I couldn't find these bulbs locally, Pegasus had them and at a good price. They light up like they're supposed to and I am pleased with the product.

I have landscape lighting that requires 20-Watt 12-Volt G4 Bi-pin's. I was in need of a set to replace all 8 bulbs that were burned out. I needed a longer life bulb as the lighting would be running 8-10 hours a day. In addition to long life, I was specifically looking for a bulb in the 6000k spectrum which brought me to Pegasus Lighting. I reviewed the product on the Pegasus Lighting website and decided to purchase 8 bulbs.

Pros:
This was the first time I had ordered from Pegasus Lighting and their prices and shipping costs were very reasonable. The bulbs arrived quickly (much faster delivery than what their website quoted) which was a surprise. All of the bulbs were intact with no defects. The bulbs were very easy to install with gloves on (gloves used while handling the bulbs to ensure the integrity of the bulbs were not compromised).

Cons:
When I installed the new xenon bulbs and turned the power on, I was shocked to find that the Pegasus Lighting xenon bulbs produced a very yellow light. As this was not what I was looking for regarding color emitted from the xenon bulbs, I blame myself for not doing more research on these specific bulbs offered from Pegasus Lighting before ordering.

I used these to replace 20w halogen bulbs that were included with the original fixtures. These have a rating of 10,000 hours. The halogen's lasted less than 4 months at about 5 hours a night, which is only around 700 hours. I expect these will far exceed that number. The lighting and color are non-discernable between the two types so that should not be a concern.

Pros:
Packaged as advertised and prompt delivery.

Good Bulbs So Far

Submitted by |

So far, so good. Much better than the previous generation bulbs, which were very finicky. I thought my puck wiring was faulty, but it really was the bulbs. They were crap. The only con is the light is more yellow than previous bulbs. I guess I got used to the bright white.

Pros:
Seem stable.

Cons:
More yellow light than I would like.

Ask a Question

Question from Bev:

In need of a replacement lamp with G-4 base, 12v and 20W max for a exhaust hood. What is the difference between low voltage and inline electrical? Aware that some under cabinet lighting is low voltage but believe the hood is not. Are these low voltage and inline lamps interchangeable?

Answer from Pegasus:

Bev: Low voltage and line voltage lamps are not interchangeable. To learn more about low voltage lighting we have a helpful article on our site called Low Voltage Lighting: 15 Things to Know at http://www.pegasuslighting.com/low-voltage-lighting-15-things-you-need-to-know.html. In your question you stated that you are in need of a 12v, 20w lamp for you hood. If that is accurate then your hood is low voltage. I recommend that you double-check your hood to determine if it low or line voltage. Good luck!

Question from Charles:

Can I use this bulb in a Miele hood. DA-220-3. The hood uses a Hera fixture model KH-12 and calls for a 20-watt 12v bulb. Thanks! Charles

Answer from Pegasus:

Charles: I don't know for sure. I am not familiar with your hood. Does your hood specifications call for a G4 base light bulb in addition to a 20-watt 12-volt? The base is very important.

Question from Robin Sloan:

I'm replacing burned out bulbs in my landscape lighting. If I push these in the sockets, they don't work. As I try to install them, the light flickers but I can't get a good firm connection. Is there a trick?

Answer from Pegasus:

Robin, no, there's not a trick. They just need to be firmly installed in the sockets. The issue may be that these bulbs are not exact replacements for your landscape lights. The diameter of the pins may be different from what your light fixture requires. That would explain why a firm connection is not being established.

Question from Ray:

Is there such a thing as a 120V T3 G4 Base bulb available? I need a replacement. The bathroom line is clearly a 120 volt line. There are two other bulbs working on this line, and I have tried a 12 volt and it does NOT work.

Answer from Pegasus:

Ray, we do not carry a 120V T3 G4 Base and I am not sure such a light bulb exists. You may want to try contacting the light bar manufacturer and asking them for a part #.

Question from Barbara Liotta:

I have a fixture with a Halogen Bulb operates on 12 volts DC maximum 5 watts. It is not bright enough. What bulb do you suggest? Can I use a Xenon bulb?

Answer from Pegasus:

Barbara, You can use a xenon light bulb BUT it cannot exceed the 5 watts your fixture is suited for. It can be dangerous to put a higher wattage light bulb in a fixture that is not designed for it. Plus, halogen and xenon light bulbs tend to be similar in brightness at the same wattage. A 5 watt incandescent light fixture is not going to be very bright. Your best bet might be to use a fixture that can handle higher wattage light bulbs.

Question from Ron Feiock:

I need replacement for Westek under cabinet lights. Contact pins must be 1.0 mm diameter. Can you confirm what the pin diameter is for this item?

Answer from Pegasus:

Ron, If your fixtures require a 20W T3 xenon light bulb with a G4 base, than this item will fit. The light bulb complies with ANSI standards for this particular shape. The pin diameter is not a published dimension and since it is so small I cannot tell you if it's exactly 1mm.

Question from Jonathan:

What are the lumen and color specs for these bulbs?

Answer from Pegasus:

The light bulbs emit 200 lumens, and have a warm white color temperature of approximately 2700K.
