Description
This 20-watt, 120-volt xenon line voltage bipin light bulb with a G8 base has a perfect color rendering index and a rated life of 8,000 hours.
  • Caution-Dimensions: please note these dimensions. A few customers have found that our xenon line voltage bipin light bulbs are larger than the ones they intended to replace. Unlike a halogen light bulb the glass envelope of a xenon light bulb may be touched with bare hands (while the lamp is cool) without causing the lamp to fail prematurely.

Nice color rendition, but no way do they last anywhere close to the 6000 hour rating.

Great Light but Short Life

Submitted by |

These are quality bulbs and work very well for a set of under kitchen cabinet lights we bought. However, the bulb's rated life is inaccurate. We are frequently replacing them each year yet they run on a dimmer with the fixture switch set at the low setting for about 6 hours/day.

Pros:
Bright warm light

Cons:
Manufacturer's rate life is completely inaccurate. Not even close to rated life.

A bulb is a bulb

Submitted by |

No choice here. This is the bulb that fits the fixtures. The light is much prettier than a fluorescent bulb and that's why I chose the fixtures. I also bought the fixtures from Pegasus - about two years ago. Pegasus' prices are competitive and the service is great. My bulbs came in about two days!

Pros:
Light is a pretty color and the bulbs last a long time.

Cons:
Pretty pricey at almost $4 a bulb.

Xenon Light Bulbs

Submitted by |

I purchased the under cabinet xenon light fixtures from Pegasus Lighting 5 years ago. Of the 9 original 20-watt G8 Xenon Bipin Light Bulbs for those fixtures I've only replaced 3 of them so far. This was my first order of replacement bulbs. I still had an original package of a replacement bulb, so I knew exactly what to order. Even if I hadn't had that, the picture on the website is so accurate it would be easy to recognize. The website is easy to use and the order came within a week. These bulbs also give out a lot of light for being so small. The only drawback is that they do throw some heat, but I don't mind that in the winter.

Pros:
Easy to put in the light fixture Give great light Long lasting

Cons:
Gives off some heat

Long-life bulbs

Submitted by |

I installed under counter fixtures in our kitchen about four years ago and have been averaging two years life per bulb, with the lights on an estimated six to eight hours per day. They give off much less heat than the halogen bulbs that I had in the previous lighting installation.

Pros:
Long life, reasonable price, runs cooler, even light distribution to the workspace, very quick and easy to replace in the under counter fixtures.

Cons:
Nothing.

very good replacement for fluorescent lighting

Submitted by |

I use this bulb in fixtures that replaced 18'' fluorescent fixtures in an indirect lighting application. The bulb works well at 2 lighting levels - high (for reading), and low (for general lighting). Heat output is much less than halogen bulbs, and color temperature is warmer than fluorescent bulbs.

Pros:
works well at 2 lighting levels low heat output @ 6in distance (but don't try to touch them when they're on!) color temperature close to frosted incandescent

Cons:
difficulty in installing new bulb (depending on fixture orientation) bulb life much less than fluorescent bulb (replacement needed about every 6 months when used 12 hours/day) can't buy replacement bulbs at Target or the hardware store

Ask a Question

Question from Kara:

Hi, my current bulbs say 20 Watt XENON T4 CLEAR G8. What does T4 mean; and will these bulbs work in my lights? Thanks

Answer from Pegasus:

Kara, T4 refers to the diameter of the light bulb. This items is a T4 light bulb. Yes, I think these light bulbs will work in your light. They are a 20W T4 G8 Base with clear glass.

Question from Bruce Butler:

I'm looking for a 2620 degrees Kelvin Xenon T4 G8 120v, 20 watt lamp. Is this what you offer? I need to match the color of what I already have.

Answer from Pegasus:

Bruce, This light bulb is similar but not exact. The color temperature is 2800K.

Question from Scott Tyson:

What constitutes a large quantity order for this bulb?

Answer from Pegasus:

Scott, We generally think of 50 light bulbs as a large quantity order. Thanks

Question from Kathy:

Is the illumination COOL BRIGHT WHITE? I've purchased several replacement bulbs recently and they all throw warm light which barely illuminates the counter of my kitchen.

Answer from Pegasus:

Kathy, These emit warm white light similar to that of a halogen light bulb. The term cool white is usually used to describe a color temperature of about 4100K, which is more typically found in fluorescent light bulbs.

Question from Darlisa Schaerer:

I need to convert my undercabinet lighting to 12-volt lighting so I can keep the wiring under molding (not seen; otherwise it is against electrical code). I cannot find bulbs that have a G8 base that are 12-volts. Where do I find how to change out the insides of 2.5-inch puck lights so they accommodate bulbs with a different base?

Answer from Pegasus:

Because G4 lamps and G8 lamps use a dedicated socket specific to the lamp base they cannot be interchanged. Separate parts such as sockets, etc. are not available. Therefore the only option to change to a 12-volt system is to use 12-volt fixtures and a 12-volt power supply (Transformer).
