Warmest colored LED string lights I've ever found

Submitted by | Cary, NC |

Using them for dimmable over cabinet lighting and they look great. Appear to be well built and sturdy. Needed to spend some time uncoiling them so they will lay flat. Not too bad. If they live up to the longevity rating they might be the last over cabinet string light I ever need.

Pros:
warm color, quality build, dimmable, multiple sizes available

Cons:
tightly coiled

Nice warm light but different, more yellow then the 9' strip

Submitted by |

Added this to a 9' strip to make 12'. The 3' is more yellow then the 9'. Noticeable difference. But works great. Buy the channels, they are well worth it to hold the lights nice and straight.

Pros:
Good price, easy to assemble

Cons:
Color does not match the 9' strip

LED Rope Great Product

Submitted by |

LED were first class quality. Plastic clips broke easy and screws were fragile. Used small 1/2in cable clamps and #6 stainless screws from Home Depot. Still, would buy the LED Rope in a heartbeat. It has a wonderful warm light and very high quality.

Over Cabinet Lighting

Submitted by |

Works perfectly for soft lighting over my kitchen cabinets and compliments my under cabinet lighting.

Pros:
Soft warm lighting

Cons:
Could have used a 12' length but the 9' works.

Attractive, warm color

Submitted by |

So glad to be able to find these. The installation clips are not flimsy, and the color is a soft, warm very slightly orangey color, not yellow.

Pros:
light is even and consistent attractive warm color

Cons:
only if you would not want the color to be a touch orangey rather than yellow

Beautiful Lights

Submitted by |

I bought these lights as a belated Christmas gift for my sister after some I ordered through Amazon immediately shorted out upon her receiving them. These lights are fantastic. She placed her 15-ft strand above her kitchen cupboards, and they provide a beautiful warm glow throughout the kitchen/dining area. She also enjoyed disposing of the biodegradable packing peanuts.

Great lighting!!!

Submitted by |

I was looking for a good solution for lighting under my new bar and this rope lighting was a perfect fit. Make sure to buy the mounting channel if you plan on a installing this underneath bar or cabinetry...it will keep it from sagging. Perfect!!!!

Pros:
Great look and fit.

Cons:
None.

Great Tread lighting option!

Submitted by |

Its been a year and these are still kicking outdoors in the damaging upstate NY climate. On a timer all year long and still look great.

Pros:
Low power consumption Warm light Plentiful lighting

Cons:
They don't take to tight 90' sweeps without failing :( They must break the wiring internally when tasked to perform a tight 90' bend. In my case this is where the rope feeds through the back of my stairs under the read nose and into the rope channel. Other than that, highly recommend.

Nice product, just not for this cabinet

Submitted by |

It looks like a nice way to light a cabinet, but the bulky pieces on the end make for poor aesthetics the way our cabinet is instructed. Will see how the return goes. The ordering process was very easy and it was delivered quickly. Back to the drawing board.

Pros:
Quick delivery, nice lighting option

Not quite equivalent to incandescent but close enough

Submitted by |

We used these LED rope lights to replace some incandescent ropes in an above cabinet lighting application. Segments of the old rope were starting to fail after about 3 yrs of periodic use, so LEDs should avoid a repeat of that problem down the road. The light temperature from the LED rope lights is warm, though not as warm as the original incandescent ones. But it's not that stark 'white' light often associated with simple LED applications, so will work just fine. Another difference is that LEDs require DC current to operate so the incoming AC line voltage is internally rectified; these rope lights must only half-wave rectify because they do suffer from a slight flicker, but it's barely noticeable so won't be a big issue to most users (especially for ceiling applications). The ropes appear to be well made and, as expected, run very much cooler (i.e., consume much less power) than the incandescent equivalent. I'd definitely buy again (though hope not to have to for this application!).

Pros:
- Good construction - Warm color temperature (though see cons comment) - Cool running, low power

Cons:
- Warm color temperature but not quite as warm as incandescent - Slight flicker

Performance and quality as advertised

Submitted by |

Easily installed, and the warm white lends well to a relaxed exterior setting.

Pros:
Performs as expected, reasonably priced.

Cons:
Would like to see an alternate method to connect to AC other than a fused male appliance plug. I routed the wiring through PVC conduit and water tight connectors making it necessary to remove the plugs, and install in line fuses.

Beats Home Depot

Submitted by |

For the price, these lights are great. Exactly the same as HD. I mean exactly! Same numbers on the casing etc. But better selection, stock on hand, and service. Be sure to buy the plastic mounting channels. Makes the install look like a pro did it. Shipping was faster than most online sellers. Warm white has cozy yellow look of incandescent. Bright white has cold blue look typical of LED. Bought bright white first but didn't like cold look. Saving them for Christmas decorating.

Pros:
Color is warm Installation is easy Professional look

Cons:
Price is a bit high

Mounted the rope on top of cabinets and behind crown molding. Switched it on and the warm light tones reflected from a high level color wall and ceiling. Awesome.

Pros:
Easy to mount/install.

Great indoor night light!

Submitted by |

Used the 3-foot warm-white to replace a failing mini fluorescent tube night light (recessed on an upper ledge of the family room). With the matching plastic tube, installation was literally a 'snap'. The night light works well, and I am happy that it generates much less heat than the tube fixture and only uses 1.65w of electricity instead of 28!

Pros:
Ease of connection, no external transformer.

Cons:
Takes a while for the 'rope' to forget it's coil memory once removed from the package.

LED rope light review

Submitted by |

Actually, I ordered three rope lights, i.e., two short ones and one 15 foot one. They arrived promptly, in good condition, and performed satisfactorily. However, there were some rather minor problems. All three rope lights came tightly wound and were difficult to straighten. Also, only the 15 foot rope light came with mounting clips. Fortunately, I was able to order more mounting clips and they arrived promptly.

Pros:
The rope lights were well made and perform satisfactorily.

Cons:
The rope lights arrived tightly wound and were difficult to straighten. This was not a serious problem.

From Pegasus:

Mounting clips should be included in the packaging for each section of rope light purchased. If this did not happen please contact us and we will make sure to send you replacement mounting clips.

Warm White LED Rope Light

Like the product, but I was sent a 15-foot rope light that had a blown fuse upon receipt. I had to replace the fuse just to get the rope to light the first time. Then I had it installed, and 2 days later the fuse blew again. But the company was great about replacing the rope light, and paying for shipping costs.

Pros:
Perfect for above cabinet lighting.

Cons:
Having to return a defective item.

A great product at a great price. DIY shops had products that required so much more power for so much more money, AND, not even LED. Looking around a little bit really paid off for me.

Pros:
Low power requirement.

Porch Lighting

Submitted by |

I purchased this item to go along the ceiling of my covered front porch. I love sitting and reading outside on warm summer nights but hate the flock of bugs to my porch light!! I have tried specialty bulbs, fluorescent bulbs, and a countless number of candles and like that say they don't attract/repel the bugs without success!! These rope-lights are the answer to my prayers!! I have plenty of light to see and read by and IF any bug is drawn in by the light (not the heat as it has none, which is what attracts most flying bugs) it is so high (have a 10 foot ceiling) that I don't get bothered by them in the least!

Pros:
Great product and service! Fast and easy shipping

Cons:
nothing to dislike

Warm White LED Rope Light -Very happy with delivery and item

Submitted by |

I am very happy with the purchase as I utilized it as cove lighting which illuminated the top of my cabinets beautifully. The only thing I was not happy about, was purchasing the extra clips, when the lights themselves included clips. So, here I am with 12 extra clips.....Other than that, great product and great company.

Pros:

Cons:

From Pegasus:

We do include extra clips with the purchase of our LED rope light along with a 5ft cord & plug, 2 threaded couplers, and 1 end cap. This information is communicated on the DESCRIPTION tab for this product.

Ask a Question

Question from John:

I am an architect looking to hang a series of LED light ropes over a small street located within a retail district (Similar to that of Larimer Square in Denver - See attached image). What is the maximum distance that an LED rope can be hung? Would the rope need to be attached to some sort of steel cable in order to span this distance?

Answer from Pegasus:

John: The rope light can be connected together for a total distance of 240 feet on one circuit. To prevent drooping and to maintain clearance over street traffic, and especially clearance for perhaps tall delivery trucks, it would be wise to use some type of support cable (like aircraft cable) along with adjustable wire ties to secure the rope every few feet. Good luck on your project!

Question from Sarah:

Is the electrical cord removable? I want a cord with a switch in it. I ordered this electrical cord to go with a different set of lights but soon realized the cord on the lights I intended to use is not removable. https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/101069/FT1-F21.html

Answer from Pegasus:

No, you cannot remove the power cord. These are plug-in rope lights kits.

Question from caroline:

is this product 100V or 12V? do you have 12V rope LED? Do 12V LEDs fade towards the end of a run (eg., 80')?

Answer from Pegasus:

We do not have 12V rope light. This rope light is 120V plug-in rope light.

Question from Henry:

For indoor application with existing 110 Volt, do these require a transformer?

Answer from Pegasus:

No transformer is required. These rope light kits simply plug into an outlet.

Question from Steve:

Is the power cord white or black?

Answer from Pegasus:

It's white.

Question from Ron:

Is it possible to get custom lengths? 3' is too short but two 3' together are too long. Also, is there a connector longer than 3' available? Going from one cabinet to the other requires going through cabinet over microwave and is much longer than 3'. Would like to put this section of kitchen cabinets on one switched outlet instead of two.

Answer from Pegasus:

I'm sorry - no we do not have custom lengths. No, we only have a 3ft connector.

Question from Carol:

From your answer about lumens per linear foot, is it to be understood correctly that 15 feet of warm white rope would only produce lumens less than one standard 7-watt incandescent nightlight, or about a fourth of a 25-watt incandescent bulb?

Answer from Pegasus:

Carol, the light output is about 6.4 lumens per foot. So for 15 feet, that would be 96 lumens. It is really not accurate to attempt to compare lumens for a linear light fixture to a light bulb because of the different nature of the sources.

Question from Anne:

is there an inline on/off switch or do I have to unplug from outlet each time?

Answer from Pegasus:

Anne, There is no inline switch. You can either use a switched outlet or unplug it to turn off.

Question from Charles:

Regarding the question about using on an outdoor patio umbrella, how do I connect one end of a 3 ft section to a central hub leaving the other end of the section unconnected? Do you have a device that allows several 3 ft sections to connect to a central hub? I do not want to connect the sections end to end but rather one end of each section to a central hub leaving the other end of the section unconnected.

Answer from Pegasus:

Charles, I'm sorry - there is not a central hub accessory. The rope light can only be linked together end to end.

Question from Charles:

I want to fasten to outdoor umbrella, how do I connect 4 or more 3ft sections to a central power hub? Each 3ft section will run down an arm of the umbrella and connect at the center to the power.

Answer from Pegasus:

Charles, If you are looking to connect the sections to each other, they link end-to-end using the included flexible connectors. Each section includes a power cord for plugging in.

Question from MJ:

How many sections can be linked together?

Answer from Pegasus:

The max run is 240ft. You can link as many sections together you would like as long as they do not total more than 240ft.

Question from Barry:

How many lumens does this rope light put out? Or what is the equivalent in incandescent bulb wattage?

Answer from Pegasus:

Barry - roughly 6.4 lumens/foot

Question from Beau:

Can this light rope be rewired to work with a dimmer switch? We have lighting wired in our cabinet shelves already, but want to replace it with this lighting, using the current power source.

Answer from Pegasus:

Beau, According to the manufacturer, this rope light is dimmable with plug-in style CFL-LED dimmers.
