Good quality lights at half the price of other brands

Submitted by |

I was skeptical of buying this item after reading a bad review, but pulled the trigger anyway. I thought the template was perfectly sized. I traced it on ceiling an stayed exactly on line. The clips Locked them into place just fine. (I think it is 1/2in drywall) They look nice and operate perfectly. I am glad I did not let bad review discourage me.

Pros:
Price compared to similar lights Able to touch insulation

Cheap and Weak Securing System

Submitted by |

The actual fixture is good but the template is off. Should have made it a bit smaller because if you cut exactly on the line the fixture barely fits. The fastening clips are not low enough (5/8in drywall) so it does not secure to the ceiling tight enough. I had to buy some flat ceiling Halo fixtures at Home Depot and use the clips to secure the others. Basically I had to jimmy rig them to fit tight. Very poor securing system. The Halo brand are much better design. I would have gone to Home Depot but they didn't sell the sloped ceiling type. I will not use these in my next remodel project. I will spend a little more and shop for quality Halo.

Pros:
Actual Fixture, price and speed of shipping

Cons:
The securing clips and WRONG size template. Shipping package not packed good, so damaged rims.

Ask a Question

Question from Ken:

Hi is the opening round, or oval?

Answer from Pegasus:

It's elliptical. 6.5in x 7.0in in diameter.

Question from Pedro:

I have the PNHRIC-926Q-AT high hat with the PNTP-614W trim. Where does the spring clip attach to the housing? Is it the slot further up that is taped? My attaching clips do not seem to fit my ceiling, perhaps because its not thick enough. Do you guys have other clips instead? I had to install shims above the ceiling to make up the difference. I have only installed one so far as i am not sure i am happy with the way this is going. Also the template is a big bigger than it should be. Please advice customers. Please advice.

Answer from Pegasus:

Pedro, Yes, the clips attach to the slot. No, we do not have alternative housing clips.

Question from Aaron:

Can you use LED light bulbs with this fixture?

Answer from Pegasus:

The manufacturer has not tested these with LED light bulbs. LED light bulbs can fit BUT there are concerns about the weight and heat management of the LED light bulbs.

Question from Christine T. Place, Architect:

Can this light be put in ceilings that will have a combination of closed and open cell foam in insulation? Is it OK to have the foam come in direct contact with the housing? Could you get back to me ASAP, please? Thank you so much.

Answer from Pegasus:

Christine, Since this housing is IC rated, it can come in direct contact with ceiling insulation and even can be covered with it.

Question from Michellle Shoven:

I bought 6 of these a few days ago and forgot to buy bulbs. Do these housings take the PAR30 long or normal bulbs?

Answer from Pegasus:

You can use either one. The long necks will stick down further, which some prefer.
