better than expected

Submitted by | newington, CT |

this light is lightweight and adjustable so even with a carving that is a deep piece we could light it without seeing the reflection of the bulbs in the glass. The remote feature is very nice.

Pros:
great value

Cons:
none yet

Great Product

Submitted by | Pacific Grove, CA |

I was wondering if it would work for my picture since a couple of the reviews indicated it might not be enough light. My picture is 24 by 36 and the light is perfect for it! I like the remote since the picture is hard to get to, so the remote switch is great.

Pros:
Easy to install, works great

Too small for the job

Submitted by |

The product is fine in every respect except that it is too small to provide adequate light for the 24x33" image we have. I should have looked for something more powerful. I would highly recommend the product for smaller images.

Great lights, easy to install.

Great lights, easy to install. Love the built in level in the back plates and the fact that you can rotate the light to just the angle you want. I bought two to light up two new pieces of artwork above my couch and to provide lighting for my couch. My only complaints are: 1) the screws are stored in a baggie in the battery compartment and in one of the lights the baggy had fallen deep into the battery compartment (which has an entry on one end and all three batteries stack on top of each other). I had to go to the hardware store and luckily they had a little contraption with a strong magnet at the end and we're able to pull the screws out; 2) the lights are one brightness which is actually quite dim. They don't really give off light to my couch and barely light up my artwork. I wish there was varied brightness.

'Pegasus': A Company With Character

Submitted by | Bear Valley Springs, CA |

I not only love the dimmable painting light I purchased for its high quality and reasonable price ... I also felt confident in the process of ordering with its swift delivery. I especially took notice of the pride Pegasus takes in its packaging ... offering a collateral tag featuring an overview of a dissolvable 'green' alternative to packing with peanuts. An interesting company with excellent product - JRM

Pros:
Good enough product to buy again and again ...

Disappointing

Submitted by | Brentwood, TN |

The battery system on this light has been short lived. I tried replacing it repeatedly but it doesn't sustain itself but only for a short period of time. I am so disappointed and it's too late to return it at this point. I most definitely CANNOT recommend this lighting system.

Pros:
nice design

Cons:
doesn't last long & requires replacing the batteries constantly

The LEDs in the product are not as "soft" as most Picture Frame Lights. However it still works well.

Pros:
Great Value and No wires!

Cons:
Not A "warm, soft" light for the Frame and picture

LED Art/Picture lights

Submitted by |

I thought the product was nicely made and attractive... but in my case the lights are not enough to illuminate larger (2 x 4... and 4 x 4 pictures). Perhaps some more LEDs would have helped.

I don't think anything was misrepresented, but it would have helped if perhaps they might have advised what size pics they are designed to highlight... maybe I can find some use for them.

I do like Pegasus... just missed on this light and application.

Pros:
As to recommending to a friend.... for small pictures/art Yes......

Cons:
For larger pictures/art...No

Brightens up the corners of my office, lighting up prints and paintings in hard to reach areas. Adds dimension and shape to the room. Love the remote. Planning on buying more.

Pros:
Great Price

Cons:
Could be a little brighter???

Nice light, poor remote

Submitted by |

The light is pretty bright and nice looking. But the remote has a poor range. You pretty much have to stand right in front of the light to turn it on and off. Defeats the purpose of a remote.

A beautiful little light

Submitted by | Madison, In. |

This light is what I have looked everywhere for. It is awesome, and the color of the light itself matches my picture frame. It looks like it was just made for my picture. And I love to have the remote because where I need the light I can't not get to it to turn it off. Plus I love the dimmer. It's a 10+. Thank You Pegasus Lighting for fast shipment, and how you took pride in how you package my shipment. Will buy from your company again.

Pros:
Just what I need at a great price

LED picture light

The lights came in a couple days and were easy to install. The built in level on the mounting plate was a great help. The lights are perfect for the bookcases. I only need to use one of the remotes to switch on the four lights each evening. Thank you for providing a great product and for providing equally good service.

Exceeded my expectations

Submitted by |

My husband and I agreed on one thing...the price. I watched the video and read the reviews, I thought it was worth a shot...so I bought one. It was easy to order, no tax & no shipping. We'll I wasn't the only one happy, my husband and professional handy man couldn't believe how it looked or performed. The lighting is professional and it has a remote with a dimmer! I will purchase more as we get our art work in place.

Nice accent light

Submitted by |

The battery operated picture light with remote control works wonderfully. My only wish is that the arc of the light came out further as I am using this one not to highlight a painting but to shine down on a stone cast Greek head sitting on a pedestal and the light doesn't get all the way to the front of the face. Even moving the direction of the two lights doesn't quite accomplish what I had hoped for. Still, I'm not complaining and if you ever come up with some that casts a light further out from the wall before bending down, I'll take it!

Terrific Lightweight Light

Submitted by |

This light fixture is lightweight which means it is easy to hold on to and install. The sliding back piece that affixes to the wall makes it easy to remove the light from the wall to change the batteries. The bracket piece has a cute little level built in, which I couldn't use because I could not get up high enough to see it, but is a nice addition. The light illuminates at a better intensity than the bigger and heavier variety I had up there. It did not have the adjustability that is so nice with this fixture. You will not be disappointed.

Not bronze but still a great light

Submitted by |

I love the light. I have it over a tall mirror at the end of a dark hall, perfect.

Pros:

Cons:
The color is more of a distressed gold rather than a bronze, but it works just the same.

Good individually

Submitted by |

I've gotten three of the units. Individually they work great, but there is not a lot of consistency between units. The dimmer is a feature, but not entirely useful or well planned; it fades up or down as you hold the button, and releasing at the top of the cycle is tricky for maximum output.

Pros:
Self contained (battery operated) Easy mounting.

Cons:
Dimmer option is hard to regulate. A two or three step function would work better, High, (Med), Low, Off. Inconsistent between units.

Too small for most pictures

Submitted by |

Unless you have a 6 inch deep picture, this light is going to be too small. I was hoping it would light up a 30 x 30 picture, and it just didn't have enough juice.

Pros:
small, battery powered, remote control

Cons:
Not enough light for a decent sized picture.

So far I'm impressed!

Submitted by |

Item was shipped and received quickly. Set up on arrival and mounted with no problems. Seems pretty well made considering price. I am about to order another one in a different color for a different painting. The remote is super handy and the holder was mounted on wall as you walk in the room, so I can leave it there or move the remote itself to where I am sitting etc.

Pros:
Remote control portable-and can be mounted.

Cons:
So far none - just got it so will see if any develop.

Ask a Question

Question from Darrin:

How wide is this light?

Answer from Pegasus:

It is 13-1/8 inches long by approximately 1 inch in diameter. The mounting plate is: 9 inches x 1-1/4 inches.

Question from Roger:

If I buy several of these lights can they be operated using the same controller (not each light needing to be controlled at the same instance)? I realize that I would have to be in range of each separate light.

Answer from Pegasus:

Yes, multiple lights can be controlled by a single remote as long as they are in range.

Question from Deb:

Would two of these lights be sufficient lighting for a menu board that is 3 feet tall and 5 feet wide? If not 2, then 3 of the lights? Will they all function off the same remote control?

Answer from Pegasus:

Yes, I think two would be sufficient and yes they will operate off the same remote.

Question from Rick:

Is this light appropriate for a glass covered framed artwork. Will you see a reflection of the light bulbs in the glass? Are the light bulls angled in such a way to avoid a reflection?

Answer from Pegasus:

Rick, this fixture does not have light bulbs. It has built in LEDs. Yes, it can be used for glass covered artwork. You can adjust the light fixture head if any glare occurs.

Question from Catherine:

What does the bronze fixture look like? I'm trying to decide between gold or the bronze.

Answer from Pegasus:

Catherine, click the arrow on the right hand side of the image thumbnails to see more images, including the bronze fixture.

Question from j ross:

Does the light have to be attached to the wall or does it hang on the picture or how attached?

Answer from Pegasus:

It attaches to the wall using the mounting bracket and screws.

Question from Karen L Steen:

If I have a large piece of art, what should I use to illuminate it? Can I use two of these items?

Answer from Pegasus:

If you have an especially wide picture, then yes, I would suggest using two.

Question from Michael:

How does the mounting plate mount? How much space is needed behind artwork for mounting plate?

Answer from Pegasus:

Michael, the mounting plate is attached to the wall using screws. It's best to attach the plate to the wall above the artwork, otherwise the neck may be pinned against the frame.

Question from Helen:

Suitable for lighting a 42x24 watercolor in shades of blue and purple? This is a dark painting.

Answer from Pegasus:

Helen, I would not recommend this battery operated light for artwork that large.

Question from Shelley:

is this rated for outdoor use?

Answer from Pegasus:

Shelley, my advice would be to try rechargeable batteries. They will not last as many hours but you will not have to keep buying batteries. Battery operated products are truly not ideal for being on all day because it becomes rather expensive to power them.

Question from Marty:

How does it mount?

Answer from Pegasus:

It mounts using the included screw bracket. You attach it to the wall.

Question from Make:

I need this to go over a picture on a brick fire place. How would it attach?

Answer from Pegasus:

It includes mounting screws and a bracket for securing it to a wall. Mounting onto brick will be a challenge since you would need to drill holes into the brick and use different types of screws/anchors designed for brick to secure it.

Question from Patty Phelps:

I would like to mount this fixture onto a bookcase using Velcro or Command brand mounting strips which support up to 16 lbs. How heavy is this fixture?

Answer from Pegasus:

It weights approximately 1 lb.

Question from Rick Sims:

What is the overall height from the bottom of the mounting box to the top of the arc? The total height please. Thank you.

Answer from Pegasus:

Rick,The measurement from the bottom of the mounting bracket to the top of the arc is 5-1/2" for the LED Battery Operated Picture Light with Remote Control.

Question from Mikulas:

What type/size batteries does this light use?

Answer from Pegasus:

This light uses AA batteries.

Question from Linda Moore:

We have our painting displayed on an easel. Is it possible to attach the light to the frame?

Answer from Pegasus:

The light can be attached to the frame with the mounting bracket.

Question from Diane Jenkins:

How do I turn the light on

Answer from Pegasus:

This light is turned on/off with the remote control.

Question from Kathleen Davis:

What size bulb goes into this light fixture? We are wanting a cordless light fixture like this one, but one we can put in a "black light" instead of white light because the picture painted looks like a regular picture until you put a black light up to it and you can see that the artist painted praying hands that can be seen with a black light. Are these bulbs able to be taken out and black lights put in?

Answer from Pegasus:

The LPL601 does not have a light bulb. It has LED Modules inside the unit. These are not replaceable.

Question from Judy:

How far out from wall does this light fixture protrude. Looking to light behind a blown glass art piece.

Answer from Pegasus:

If layed flat the light protrudes 1 inch. If the arm is swung out it protrudes 5 inches.

Question from kurt:

If I'm using this light how high do i mount it above my artwork when drawing? It's an 18 x 12in .Also is the light good for this size of artwork?

Answer from Pegasus:

You will want to mount the light where it will project the best light for the picture without having the light head in the view of the picture. We recommend the light fixture be at least 1/2 the size of the picture, so for your 18 inch fixture it would be sufficient.

Question from Colin Berry:

Will one unit light up a canvas picture 38 inches long by 18 inches wide ?

Answer from Pegasus:

The fixture will light approximately 18 inches vertically. Therefore it will not provide a sufficient amount of light for the lower section of the canvas.

Question from Cheryl:

I'm putting together a gallery wall of framed photos. Sizes will vary. How many lights would you recommend for a display width of approximately 4 feet?

Answer from Pegasus:

We generally suggest that a picture light measure at least have the width of the area being illuminated.

Question from Clyde Eldridge:

I have a 30" wide and 36" High oil painting. Would this be sufficient to illuminate the painting?

Answer from Pegasus:

We generally recommend that a picture light be at least 1/2 the width of the picture.

Question from Mike Brusko:

Is there some trick to accessing the battery compartment? I need to change the batteries and have had no luck sliding the unit off of the backing plate, as suggested in one of the reviews of this product.

Answer from Pegasus:

The light slides upward from the mounting bracket. The battery compartment can then be accessed.

Question from gloria:

I purchased picture light bronze, battery operated, I just changed the battries and lamp still does not come on, do the leds need to be changed only had for apporx. 6 mos.

Answer from Pegasus:

The LED's are not replaceable in this picture light.

Question from Ash Sheikh:

Can this light be used to illuminate a dartboard?

Answer from Pegasus:

This light could be used to illuminate a dartboard.

Question from Janie Robles:

Can you purchase two remotes for one light? In case it gets lost?

Answer from Pegasus:

I'm sorry - the remotes are not available separately. They are packaged with each picture light.
