- One 12-volt electronic transformer is required for powering the recessed light. Be sure to select a transformer with a wattage rating equal to or slightly greater than the total wattage being powered.
- Calculating Total Wattage: to determine the transformer you need, calculate the total wattage rating of your installation by multiplying the number of lights you intend to power by the wattage of the light bulb you intend to use. For example, for 3 lights using 20W MR16 light bulbs, you would need to select a transformer rated for at least 60 watts (3 Recessed Lights x 20W/Recessed Light = 60W).
- MR16 Light Bulb: uses a 12-volt MR16 low voltage halogen light bulb with maximum of 20 watts.
Optional Accessories Sold Separately
- Multi-Tap Connectors: connect multiple light fixtures to one electronic transformer.

Question from BP Designs:
Answer from Pegasus:You should purchase an 80W electronic transformer minimum. Exactly which model depends on whether you want to hardwire or plug-in the fixtures.
Question from Hana:
Answer from Pegasus:Hana, Yes - just be sure the LED MR16 you use is compatible with the power supply, e.g. transformer.
Question from Trish:
Answer from Pegasus:Absolutely if the transformer is rated to handle the load you are installing on it. Assuming you use 20W in each light, then you need at least an 80W transformer plus you can use a multi-tap connector accessory to easily wire them together.
Question from Joe Martino:
Answer from Pegasus:This fixture is rated for indoor use only.
Question from Scott:
Answer from Pegasus:The miniature MR 16 Recessed fixtures require a 12-volt electronic low voltage transformer (sold separately). These transformers require dimmers designed for electronic low voltage lighting. We currently don't offer the Caseta dimmer however according to the literature it is not compatible for 12-volt lighting systems.
