The switch when it's in the middle will make the lights flicker for a second. Also if they are on a 3 way and the dimmer is completely down it will not turn on from any other location. The dimmer has to be about a quarter of the way up so you can turn on from another location.

Question from Bill Ganz:

Will this dimmer work to control a magnetic transformer for LED ribbon light?

Answer from Pegasus:

Bill, It depends. If the magnetic transformer is dimmable and intended to be used with the LED ribbon light, then the manufacturers should indicate which type of dimmers are compatible. Dimming LEDs connected to transformers can be tricky, so I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer of the ribbon light for more info. Often the manufacturer will have a list of approved dimmers.
