Great light fixtures!

Submitted by |

I purchased these to complete our new kitchen addition. They light the counters beautifully! We purchased a total of 8 fixtures including 2 each of 8in, 12in and 24in. Three are hard wired with the others linked with optional cables sold here. All of them operate off of a single dimmer switch. The fixtures are well made, look great and were very easy to install with easy to understand, included directions. And like I said, the light looks awesome!

Pros:
Well made, solid feeling fixture. Thin, tucks right under cabinet face. The white option was perfect for our cabinets. Installation was very easy. 3 Connection options for various configurations. The light looks great in the counter. Work great with dimmers made for LED lights

Cons:
None

Fantastic Lights!

Submitted by |

We renovated our kitchen two years ago, and used regular incandescent lights under the cabinets. The heat from these lights was incredible! After considerable research (LED, dimmable, length constraints etc.) I purchased these lights. They were easy to install, and they are fantastic: no heat! We are so pleased!

Pros:
No heat, dimmable, variety of lengths, easy to install

Cons:
Relatively expensive, but worth it!

Perfect

We needed lights that were not only dimmable, but could also be hardwired to each other. These task lights not only filled those requirements, but were very easy to install. The amount of light for tasking is perfect.

Good quality light

Submitted by |

I have a galley configured kitchen with 4 under the cabinet lights. A month ago Pegasus sold two types, one an aluminum and this one. I bought two of the aluminum ones to access them. They just blew away the xenon lights I'd have for 20 years, tons of light! These steel ones don't have amount lumens the aluminum ones have but the configuration is better. So I bought a 32 inch one, installed it and wow! Again plenty of good quality light spread out evenly. It would be hard to be disappointed with these light fixtures.

Pros:
excellent color temp and quantity, perfect for the kitchen

Cons:
fixture a bit flimsy making closing a bit of a challenge, a minor con

Great under cabinet light

One of the best items in my kitchen renovation. 3 hardwired onto one switch. The LED is such a nice warm tone. Never used my old rocker switch fluorescents but these are a different animal. Use them all the time.

Pros:
Great hardwired option. Thin. Bronze color matched cherry cabinets. Great amount of light.

Cons:
None

Not Dimmable - These Lights Make Buzzing Noise

Submitted by |

We bought these lights for our kitchen and have been very disappointed with them. They all buzz if connected to a dimmer switch (any dimmer switch, for incandescent, fluorescent, AND LED fixtures). We've made such an effort to upgrade our house to LED's, and these are the only ones that have proved a disappointment. The manufacturer was no help either. If you want dimmable LED lights, you should definitely shop another brand. Also, if you're hoping the glass cover will hide the pinpoints of light you will be doubly disappointed. These lights glare right through the frosted glass and onto the reflective counter top. Good luck.

Pros:
Installation was not difficult.

Cons:
THEY BUZZ! These lights ARE NOT dimmable. Frosted glass is ineffective.

Good light output, OK install, buzzy transformer

Submitted by |

I have not compared this with other similar products, but I was disappointed about the build quality of this rather expensive item. The light output and color temperature are excellent and it appears to put out 50% more light at 1/2 the power of my old fluorescents being replaced. Happy there. The electrical strain relief can only fit one way so beware. Install otherwise pretty easy and straightforward. Once installed, I found that one of the three I purchased had a slight 60Hz hum coming from it. It never ceases to amaze me how poorly Chinese manufactured products are and in this case, even a transformer built to deliver a whopping 8W couldn't be built to be quiet. The 60Hz hum got a lot worse however when I attached the compatible Lutron dimmer to the three lights. Then they ALL hummed and oddly, even when at full brightness (which should ideally be the same as no dimmer at all). So, I love the light output and low power but hate the hum and I may need to give up on the dimmer due to annoying noise. We should make these in USA where we know how to wind transformers and I feel that they should sell for half the price!

Pros:
High light output, relatively easy install, dimmable

Cons:
Poor transformer design leads to 60Hz hum in some units or all units when connected to a standard dimmer unit

Even better than I had hoped for

We replaced our old under counter fluorescent lights. We just got tired of replacing blinking bulbs and bad ballasts. Even our electrician was impressed with these. They are very well made and so bright. We look forward to years of maintenance free use. Well worth the money.

Better than any I have used

Submitted by |

As a kitchen remodeler who uses under-cabinet lighting on nearly every job, I have installed hundreds of various lights from Kichler, NSL, etc. I can say, with confidence, that these are the best of all of them, for several reasons: 1. Higher quality & precision of fit & finish 2. No heat generated, as with all the Xenon lights I have installed Note: Several of my customers have complained about the heat from their Xenon lights, causing butter or chocolate in the cabinet to melt. 3. Much easier to install - don't even have to take it apart as with all the others. Additionally, these have the perfect mounting method - built-in screws that are the perfect length. Most lights come with screws that are too long for a cabinet that has a 3/8in thick bottom. These are just right. I have now installed about 20 of these of every length they sell, and have not had a single problem thus far. Yes, they are pricey compared to the Xenon, but in my opinion, it's worth every penny. These have now become the standard in my business. No more Xenon. I hope they don't go and change this model & design.

New Undercabinets installed

Submitted by |

Purchased these LEDs after much deliberation over Xenon, LED and others. Decided to put up the money and go this way and now........no regrets. The light from them is perfect. I purchased 12in and 24in units and they provide plenty of light under the cabinets. Ease of installation was just that. A breeze. Once you hardwired in the lines, placing the unit under the cabinet and screwing it in was a piece of cake. Thanks to the screws already being inset to the unit they didn't fall out when tipped upside down.

Pros:
Easy to install and easy to wire. Excellent light quality

Cons:
Taking the access panel off and putting it back on is easy but you have to make sure the ground lug is right where you place the screw or it takes some time to get the cover back on. I'd recommend that they rethink how the ground is attached to make it easier for the home owner and it would insure that the unit is properly grounded should we miss the lug when reattaching the access panel. Cost, slightly higher than Xeon and other type lights but cooler and more efficient.

Ask a Question

Question from Stephanie:

Are the LED's replaceable? What are the LED lamp part numbers for the 12in, 24in and 36=in?

Answer from Pegasus:

Stephanie: Sorry, but the lamps are not replaceable in this fixture. They are rated at 50,000 hours of average life.

Question from Jim Woomer:

How do you replace burnt out lights?

Answer from Pegasus:

This product does not have light bulbs that can be changed. It has built-in LED chips that emit light. These LEDs have a rated life of 35,000 hours. Let's say you run the fixture for 4 hours/day - that translates to more than 23 years of life.

Question from Richard:

I have a 30in gap between the cabinets where the stove goes. How do I connect these lights across that gap? I have access behind the wall that the cabinets are on.

Answer from Pegasus:

You can use the linking cable accessory to connect lights across short distances.

Question from Donald:

When compared to the LED Contrax under the cabinet light fixtures, which has the warmer light? LED Complete or LED Contrax It says they both put out 3000K, but which seems warmer, Contrax or Complete?

Answer from Pegasus:

They both have the same color temperature of 3000K so neither is warmer than the other. Thanks!

Question from Bill Moore:

How do you change the bulbs? If all the bulbs go out at same time, is there another part that is causing it?

Answer from Pegasus:

Bill, this product does not have light bulbs that can be changed. It has built-in LED chips that emit light. Yes, if the entire fixture fails it could be an internal component such as the LED driver.

Question from Connie:

What is the name of the manufacturer?

Answer from Pegasus:

American Lighting is the manufacturer.

Question from Chris:

Please confirm these fixtures are hardwire capable without the hardwire accessory.

Answer from Pegasus:

Chris, yes, they may be hardwired directly to the fixtures using the knockouts along the back of each fixture. The hardwire box accessory simply allows for a more aesthetically pleasing installation. You run the hardwire connections into the box and then use linking cables to connect the run of fixtures to it.

Question from Roman Kaszczij:

I need to interconnect 3 of these lights on one wall switch. I have prewired my cabinets with 120V wire (already in the walls). Can I hard wire each of the 3 units together with 120V wire?

Answer from Pegasus:

Yes, you may hardwire them to your 120V line.

Question from Donald:

What is the kelvin temperature of the lamps?

Answer from Pegasus:

It's 3000K, warm white.

Question from Holly C:

Do these UCL's require a separate transformer to hardwire or is it built in?

Answer from Pegasus:

Holly, A separate transformer or driver is not needed for these under cabinet lights.

Question from Norine:

If I need to order 7 units, 1 for each of the 7 cabinets, will I need 7 dimmers? Can the dimmers be installed under the cabinet, too, or do they have to be installed on the wall?

Answer from Pegasus:

Norine, you can install a single dimmer for all 7 lights. The compatible dimmers listed in the Accessories are in-wall dimmers.

Question from Marvin:

Thanks for the quick response. It is a straight run of cabinets. I am not sure about ridges underneath between cabinet boxes. Will check with builder. What do you have to say about the reviewers who say these essentially are NOT dimmable because they hum so much? Are these guaranteed not to hum, even on a dimmer? For the prices, I believe they should be so guaranteed.

Answer from Pegasus:

Marvin, We have a 45 day satisfaction guarantee. Please view our policy here - http://www.pegasuslighting.com/customer-service.html#satisfactionguarantee Like low voltage transformers LED products need to be dimmed using specific dimmers for optimum performance. The manufacturer recommends using Lutron's Diva C-L Dimmer for best results - http://www.pegasuslighting.com/diva-c-l-dimmer-line-voltage.html

Question from Marvin:

For a 10 foot run of cabinets, which units, how many of them, and how far apart for mounting would be appropriate to provide continuous light on the counter below?

Answer from Pegasus:

Marvin, Our recommendation is to fill up the space underneath the cabinet with the largest possible fixture(s). To determine exactly how many, we need to know whether it's a straight run or if there are bends and also if there are lips under the cabinets that will need to be jumped.
