Easy to install, great even lighting.

Nice lights, a little pricey

Submitted by |

I've had this lighting system installed under my cabinets for about a month. The lights are great. They are bright, carry a low profile and work as described. I have not attached them to a dimmer so I cannot comment on that aspect but overall I am very happy. My only complaint is that they are expensive. Only time will tell if I got what I paid for.

Bright, low profile, many options.

Ask a Question

Question from Jamey Kirby:

I am looking for a strip light that is rated to go in the storage area of a clothes closet. Got any that are for use in the storage area of a closet per NEC Article 410.16(A)(3) and 410.16(C)(5).

Answer from Pegasus:

The LED Straight Edge Strip Lights meets the NEC code of having a lens cover to eliminate an exposed lamp. Should you decide to use this fixture I would recommend using the 4500K color temperature.

Question from John R.:

Sir, can you provide the dimensions of the transformer box used with LED Straight Edge lighting? I have kitchen cabinets with flush bottoms and no space to hide anything.

Answer from Pegasus:

The dimensions for the transformer will depend on which model you use. Check out the Accessories for the list of transformer options. On each transformer's product page we list the dimensions. Thanks!

Question from Luis:

Is it possible to mask the individual LEDs so that they will not reflect like a beads line on the countertop?

Answer from Pegasus:

Luis, check out this product instead - http://www.pegasuslighting.com/hera-led-line-voltage-linkable-linear-light-fixture-elite.html It has a frosted diffuser so the LEDs won't be reflected.

Question from Patricia:

I have two 3 foot jewelry display cases that I need to light. What is the best way to light the jewelry? Do I need a transformer for each case?

Answer from Pegasus:

Patricia, You will need a transformer for each run. If the cases are near each other you may be able to use joiner cables to link them together and connect the run to a single transformer. If they are not near each other than yes you will need a transformer for each case. I would suggest mounting them on the top of the case in the corner where they are concealed. You could use the 45 degree angle mounting clips (included) to direct the light onto the jewelry.

Question from Ed:

Can 3 - 26in long fixtures be wired together on one transformer on a dimmer? I need pricing and what transformer to buy.

Answer from Pegasus:

Ed, Yes, 3 26in fixtures can be wired together to a single transformer and dimmer. For a run of 3 26in fixtures, you will need to use one of the 60W transformers. You have a choice between a plug-in model or hardwire model. The compatible transformers are listed in the Accessories section of the page. To determine pricing for the LED Straight Edge Strip Lights, simply select your option in the drop down options list. Transformer and dimmer prices are listed on each product page.

Question from Luis:

Can this product be hardwired to a wall switch?

Answer from Pegasus:

Absolutely! You will need to use one of the hardwire transformers.

Question from John:

Does the dimmer go on the 120V or 24V side of the transformer? Will any of the Lutron electronic dimmers work?

Answer from Pegasus:

John, It goes on the 120V side of the transformer. I would specifically recommend the Lutron Skylark electronic low voltage dimmer. It tends to work best with LED lights because it's the simplest of the Lutron dimmers.

Question from Michelle:

Are the bulbs replaceable?

Answer from Pegasus:

Michelle, It does not have bulbs so no. This light strip uses integrated LEDs.

Question from Kathy:

If I am only using one 25.25 light, do I need a transformer? I'm hardwiring this for an under cabinet light.

Answer from Pegasus:

Yes. A transformer is required for these light fixtures no matter the length of your run.

Question from Idonna:

Would this work to light a painting that's in the middle of a wall of book shelves? The painting is 53 inches wide and 38 inches tall. We could mount the strip on the outer edge of the shelf above it and want it to be both hard wired and dimmable.

Answer from Pegasus:

Idonna, yes I think you could use it for this application. It's super low profile so it will be easily hidden and you can hardwire it and dim it.

Question from Michael:

Would this kind of lighting be appropriate (provide enough light) for a walk-in closet? If so, which wattage would be best?

Answer from Pegasus:

Michael, Yes, it would work well for closet application. I would suggest picking the longest length that fills up the space you are wanting to illuminate. That way you have even lighting.
