Dimmable LED MR11 2.2-watt lamps feature a combination of energy-efficiency and long life for a great overall performance. These MR11 lamps operate on a range of 10-18 volts, meaning they won't be affected by voltage drop associated with long low voltage runs.
This bulb is dimmable. Use either a magnetic low voltage dimmer or an electronic low voltage dimmer, depending on the type of transformer used in the lighting system. Note: for many low voltage dimmers, a minimum load of 40 watts is required for proper dimming performance.
The light output is better than the 20 watt MR-11 I replaced, and of course it's a blessing to minimize relamping of tiny MR-11s. Since LEDs have faux dimming, it's not as continuous, full range and even as analog dimming of halogens; and it won't dim below a certain minimal level.
Pros: minimize relamping--efficiency. You can get more lumens out of a fixture normally limited to a 20 watt halogen.
Cons: It does not have full range dimming like the halogen
