Nice but limited use

Submitted by |

It looks nice but you be careful how you place it. It runs the positive output into the faceplate so it means anything metal that touches it is now getting that voltage. It kind of violates the idea of an isolated circuit.

Pros:
Looks nice. Little LED that goes on when it is off and is smooth flicker free action.

Cons:
Running the positive output into the faceplate boggles the mind.

From Pegasus:

This dimmer is specifically required for properly dimming the American Lighting TL series of tape light products. It must be installed on the output (secondary) side of the dimmable drivers for proper dimming.

Ask a Question

Question from Philip Giffin:

Do you cut the male/female connectors to hardwire the driver to the switch? Or are there other wiring options? Thanks

Answer from Pegasus:

Philip, I do not know which driver you have purchased. These switches are intended to hardwire to the driver. There are not male/female connectors on them nor are there male/female connectors on the compatible drivers we sell. Please call our customer service if you need more assistance. Thank you.

Question from Jay:

I don't like the looks of this dimmer, can I use one of the Lutron magnetic low voltage dimmers?

Answer from Pegasus:

Jay, Lutron magnetic low voltage dimmers are not compatible with the dimmable power supplies for use with our American Lighting LED Tape Light products. This tape light is a bit odd in that the dimmer comes after the driver in the circuit. Unfortunately this is the only compatible dimmer available for this system.

Question from SAM:

IS THIS ALL I NEED TO DIM THE STRIP LIGHTS 110 IN AND 12 VOLT

Answer from Pegasus:

Sam, this dimmer should be used with tape light models PTL-30 and PTL-60 in conjunction with a dimmable driver that is listed on the tape light product page.
