These colored glass light filters will cover MR16 halogen lamps to produce your desired hue.
The size of the colored glass filter should be determined by what will hold the filter in place (a filter holder and/or the light fixture) and not by the diameter of the lamp (light bulb).] 1.968in diameter - normally used with MR16 light fixtures.
Made my own. Less cost. Made them out of thin plastic from a hobby store. Sprayed them with a transparent spray paint. Green. Red. Placed them between the Halogen housing and the clear glass lens. They work fine. Give the same look for a lot less $$$$$. Cut out the thin plastic in a circle with scissors. All in all it cost about $10.00 for about 16 covers, instead of $6.95 each.
My wife has been complaining that the light from our floods is too cold. So when we visited the Buchart Gardens in Victoria this summer, we made a point of staying till after dark so we could observe their lighting. We decided that the warm amber lights were the best and I ordered these filters. They were just what we were looking for. Now we have very nice warm amber light shining up on our trees.
I wanted to create outdoor lighting effects for Christmas and found these light filters on line that were described to fit my outdoor lighting fixtures perfectly. When they arrived, they were just as described and were easy to install and the effect is exactly what I was looking for. The red and green lighting on my home and landscape looks very seasonal.
