Exactly what I needed

After doing a lot of research to fix an undercabinet light, I ordered just the transformer. It was delivered quickly, fit right into my old fixture and saved me a bunch of money. I bought 2, actually, figuring I may have another light go bad. That got me free shipping, too.
Thanks guys!

Good transformer

Submitted by |

Replaced a 60 watt transformer that kept shutting off with this 80 watt transformer and haven't had any problems since. In fact I was able to go from 4 11watt bulbs to 4 18 watt bulbs. Super easy to hook up. Recommend it to be inside a junction box by itself.

Pros:
Easy hook up

Cons:

Easy to Install Transformer

Submitted by |

I pulled four 10W under the cabinet lighting to this transformer. I understand it was overkill on what is required, BUT it provides me the capacity to double my lighting if needed in the future. For the price, cannot be beat!! I did install this into a junction box, but that was not an issue to its small size.

Best replacement for Kichler under cabinet lighting. Installed in 5 minutes. Double stick tape holds it in place. Just pry the old one out with a screwdriver, only held in place with silicone adhesive.

Another Kichler under cabinet Xenon fixture repaired

Submitted by |

I had three 'blinking' Kichler under cabinet Xenon fixtures, but I don't anymore. I was directed to this product from the following site: http://www.doityourself.com/forum/lighting-light-fixtures-ceiling-exhaust-fans/426195-problems-w-kichler-under-cabinet-xeron-lights.html#b The hardest part was removing the old transformer in the unit, which was stuck to the fixture with silicone adhesive. I happen to have a vice; so, I clamped down on the old transformer and twisted it until the seal broke. After that it was all down hill...You should use a dab of silicone adhesive when doing the repair to keep the transformer from moving around. By the way, I bought some bulb replacements too. You might want to check this out: http://www.pegasuslighting.com/xenon-wedge-base-light-bulbs-18w-12v.html

Pros:
Perfect for repairing Kichler Xenon under cabinet fixtures

I had an undercounter light go intermittent. Symptom appeared to be a bad (3 position) rocker switch. Internet research turned up bad transformers in the product. Ordered and installed this transformer and problem solved!!! Simple job (except getting TO the bad transformer). Actually, I ordered two transformers since we have six of these light fixtures. Probably should have bought four more!!

Transformer replacement for Kichler under counter lights

Excellent buying experience. The product was delivered promptly by Pegasus and was well-packaged. I would definitely buy from them again. Perfect fix for Kichler K-10566 Xenon undercabinet light

Submitted by |

I searched all over the internet for a replacement transformer for my Kichler fixtures. The manufacturer wouldn't sell a replacement, insisting that I had to buy another fixture instead. Nope. Didn't need to. I swapped out the old, defective transformers with this model and the lights are working once again. And best of all, these parts showed up within three days of the initial order. That's what I call prompt ordering fulfillment by Pegasus. Thanks for helping me complete this repair project in record time!

Hill Lighting project

Submitted by |

The product was not the same part number as I removed from the fixture I was working on. I couldn't find one that didn't have to come from China or had a Chinese website. The part had the same voltage and wattage as the one I was looking for, so I ordered yours. It was actually smaller or about the same size as the original. The contractor who had been taking care of the customer's lighting had told them they couldn't get the parts. Thanks for being there so I could make a sale.

Ask a Question

Question from Kevin:

Will this power an LED puck light?

Answer from Pegasus:

Kevin: LED lights typically require a driver NOT a transformer. First, I would verify exactly what type of power supply your fixtures need. Our drivers are on this page: http://www.pegasuslighting.com/led-drivers.html

Question from Binh Nguyen:

Can I use this to replace the SAT70 transformer which is specified at 110V, 60W? Binh

Answer from Pegasus:

If your light fixtures require an electronic transformer, then the 80-watt transformer should be appropriate.

Question from Tony:

My existing transformer has an output of 12.8V ~ >20KHz, 5Amps. Your transformer outputs 11.5 V, 7 amps. Will this transformer be a suitable replacement? If not, can you recommend an alternative with similar dimensions. It is for use with a Kichler K10566 fixture with 3 18W Xenon bulbs. Other people with my fixture seem to have had success with your transformer. The manufacturer will not supply a transformer, nor will they make recommendations for a replacement.

Answer from Pegasus:

Yes. This transformer is a suitable replacement.

Question from Alex:

Hello, What connectors are at the end of the cables? I need to replace a VS12 60SG and this seems to fit my needs especially given that it needs to handle 80W however I don't know how I can fit it on my current system/connectors. Otherwise, does Pegasus have the type of connector on the picture that would help me fit into my system? Thanks

Answer from Pegasus:

Alex, This transformer has bare lead wires meant to hardwire using wire nuts or terminal blocks (not included). We do not carry the type of connector in your image.

Question from Finley Cosner:

Will this work with 4 halogen 20 watt bulbs?

Answer from Pegasus:

Yes, the max wattage for this transformer is 80W. Your four halogen bulbs will not exceed that max. Thanks!

Question from jim g.:

i need to light 15 12v single pole bulbs in car dashboard plus honk a 12v horn what transformer should i use

Answer from Pegasus:

Jim, we carry lighting transformers designed for use in AC indoor applications. We do not have a product suitable for installation in a car.

Question from Mike:

I have 6 incandescent low voltage lights mounted into my house walls that cast light on the deck. They are 11 watts each. Will this transformer be OK or can you recommend an appropriate one for mounting inside the house?

Answer from Pegasus:

Mike, you need to determine the voltage needed by your lights. Is it 12V or 24V? If it's 12V, then yes, this will be fine.

Question from Richard:

I have a 3 bulb Kichler under cabinet xenon light out as well only it's Model # K-10574-CLR. 18 watt 12.8 Volt. Will this item work?

Answer from Pegasus:

Richard, If your transformer has failed then yes replacing it with this one should fix the issue.

Question from Dave:

Can this transformer be dimmed?

Answer from Pegasus:

Absolutely! We recommend using a dimmer designed for an electronic low voltage transformer. Check out the Accessories section for this type of dimmer.

Question from David:

I am going to power 3 20watt bulbs - is it better to use an 80watt transformer than a 60watt? I assume you don't need to consider the load of the wiring when determining the transformer size, but is it better to partially load the transformer or size it to be fully loaded?

Answer from Pegasus:

David, Electronic transformers can be fully loaded, so you are perfectly safe using a 60W electronic transformer. With that being said, an 80W transformer would work just as well and allows you some freedom if you consider changing the wattage light bulb being used in the future.

Question from Helen Kenney:

Will this transformer work in my Kichler brand undercabinet halogen lights? They are model #10563 and have worked intermittently depending upon their mood....

Answer from Pegasus:

Helen, I believe your Kichler under cabinet lights are powered by integral transformers. As you can see in some of the reviews, other customers had success replacing the transformers in their Kichler under cabinet lights with this item. I would recommend first contacting Kichler to see if you can replace the transformer without voiding the safety listings or even if they will warranty the product. I would also make sure the dimensions will fit in the fixture - 0.75in(H) x 1.25in(W) x 2.2in(L).

Question from George J.:

I need replacement for my track lights which had converter for halogen lamps brand Anchorn not available anywhere, will Hatch electronic low voltage transformer 80 watt 12 volt fix the job?

Answer from Pegasus:

George, If your track lights require 12V and if the total wattage does not exceed 80W, then this transformer should work for your system.

Question from George:

I need to replace a Hatch RL12-75a transformer. Will this work? What is the difference?

Answer from Pegasus:

George, The major difference is that this transformer is rated for 80W and your older model is rated for 75W. That means the 80W can handle more power. Other than that they are both 12V electronic transformers. You shouldn't have any issues using this as a substitute.

Question from Mike:

Hi. I am building 3 soffits around my living room and wanted to install 14 x 2in recessed LED lights (each light is 5 watts for a total of 70 watts). The total length of the three soffits will be about 45 feet (15x15x15). Can I use this 80 watt electronic transformer for this project? The transformer would be about 10 feet from the light switch and then about 5 feet from the first of the 14 lights. Would I be able to use this transformer for this project I should I look for another transformer?

Answer from Pegasus:

Mike, LED lights typically require a driver NOT a transformer. First, I would verify exactly what type of power supply your fixtures need. Our drivers are on this page: http://www.pegasuslighting.com/led-drivers.html

Question from Robert:

I am looking to put low voltage lighting to illuminate stairs. How long of a run can I use to power 7 7-watt 12-volt stair lighting fixtures or is the length of the run irrelevant?

Answer from Pegasus:

The length of the run between the transformer and the light fixtures is very important because of an issue known as voltage drop. Basically if you have too long of a run, then the voltage reaching the last fixture in the run may be significantly lower than the voltage reaching the first fixture in the run. This will cause the last fixture to appear dim.A general rule of thumb is that for runs shorter than 6ft, an electronic transformer is acceptable. For runs longer, you should consider using a magnetic transformer. Ideally you should consult with an electrician about the length of run and work with him/her to determine whether there will be any voltage drop.

Question from Jim Guevara:

I need a transformer for LV-halogen lamps 120V input, 12V out, 70 watts, and has 2 red wires and one black and one white and powers 2 lamps on vent hood brand Euro. Which model should I buy?

Answer from Pegasus:

The RS12-80M is an appropriate substitute.
