Pegasus very helpful in making decision

I had a transformer that was bad. I looked at getting it directly from the supplier. It would have been over $40. I searched the internet for a replacement. I ran across the Pegasus website. I was able to determine, from the questions asked by clients, that the transformer I purchased would replace the one that was bad and at over half the cost. It also arrived within five days of ordering. Nice job Pegasus.

Pros:
Item arrived quickly and worked like a charm.

Cons:
None

Great Transformer for the $$

I pulled two 10W under the cabinet lighting to this transformer. I understand it was overkill on what is required, BUT it provides me the capacity to double my lighting if needed in the future. For the price, cannot be beat!! I did install this into a junction box, but that was not an issue to its small size.

Delivered promptly and works just fine

The product was sent promptly and works flawlessly. Durability is the primary concern and since I have only been using it for a couple of weeks, I haven't had the opportunity to assess its ability to function over a reasonable length of time.

Great product for 12v lights

This transformer was put into a standard outside electrical junction box for operating two lights along a short stairway. The other transformer had to be located with one side down and it failed within a month.

Great Replacement for Undercounter Light Fixture

Submitted by |

Our undercounter 3 bulb light fixture would not work. After chasing down the power I realized the transformer was kaput. This fit perfectly into the low profile frame & worked from the get-go. Make sure the wattage is rated to handle all the bulb wattage added up. This 60 watt transformer easily met that requirement for our 3 15 watt bulbs. Still working fine 1 month later. Easy fix!

Low Voltage Transform

Arrived promptly and was just as described in the Web catalog. It saved me over $100 vs. buying an entire new undercounter light fixture

Pros:
Did the job perfectly

Exactly what I needed

Submitted by |

Spending $18 on a new transformer vs $150 for a new Kitchler xenon under-cabinet xenon light...no contest. Kitchler said I needed to replace the whole unit. Found out that replacing the transformer would work. Delivered on time and in great shape. All good.

Pros:
works

Cons:
nothing

Worth Waiting For!

I recently bought a house that had a kitchen shelf with overhead lighting - except the lights didn't work! They hadn't worked in 10 years! I asked my son to look at the problem and he immediately said the transformer was shot. He looked locally in several stores and no one stocks this item. Finally I decided to look online. My son saw the one we needed and I ordered it. Delivery was super fast and the part works fine and my lighting looks beautiful! Too bad the previous owners didn't know about you! Thank you so much for your help!

Product replaces a discontinued product once handled by Home Depot. I have 20 Pendant fixtures at 4 locations and was very concerned when trying to get these transformers replaced (defective and out of business). This is a known problem by Home Depot and they haven't a clue where to send people for transformers.

Pros:
Quick delivery.

Cons:
Made in China.

Perfect Replacement

Submitted by |

This transformer is the second one I've bought from Pegasus to replace ones that had died in my kitchen hanging halogen lights. Small, lightweight and inexpensive. My local electrical supply house tried to sell me a heavy, oversized and very expensive transformer. Pegasus came to the rescue at one-fourth the price and shipped it fast.

Pros:
Correct size, lightweight, price

Cons:
nothing

Ask a Question

Question from Chad:

I am looking for a transformer such as this for my existing deck light system that I have recently added a few lights to and exceeded the capacity of my existing transformer. I have a photocell already so this transformer would fit the bill for what I need. The only question I have is if this transformer will work with an LED lighting system. I see in the description that it works with halogen and xenon but there is no mention of LED. Please let me know. Thank you.

Answer from Pegasus:

Chad: This transformer is not designed to work with LEDs. You probably need an LED driver but you should contact the manufacturer of LED deck lights to determine the appropriate power supply necessary for your system.

Question from Pravin:

Hello, Please see attached images of 240V to 12V transformers, I need similar transformers but input as 120V and output as 12V (wattage 40 and 60). I will be using those transformers for driving LED bulbs.

Answer from Pegasus:

This transformer will step down the voltage from 120V to 12AC. The max wattage is 60W but it will work perfectly well for 40W too.

Question from Mark:

I recently re-wired an old motorcycle to use as a street light (yes, you read that correctly). I would like the 4 directionals, the tail light and the headlight to work with the flick of the wall switch (120v).Will 60 watts be enough, or should I go with the 80 watt model?

Answer from Pegasus:

Mark, it all depends on the wattage of the lights. Add up the watts and then select a transformer equal to or slightly higher.

Question from Don:

I have several 50w halogen bulbs in my kitchen ceiling all of which have a dedicated transformer. Someone tried to replace the bulbs on a couple with 20w and these lights do not come on. Is it my transforms or should they be 50w specifically? If it is my transformer will the Hatch work?

Answer from Pegasus:

Don, It may be that your existing transformers require a minimum lighting load larger than 20W. The first step is to read the label of the existing transformers if possible to see if there is a min load. I would suggest going back to the 50w light bulbs before you make a large electrical change like replacing all of the transformers. If they still don't work then I would hire an electrician to test the circuit and see what's going on.

Question from grace:

I know it is stupid question, but I do not understand how to wire this transformer. On the diagram you have black and white wire ,but the transformer has two white and two red Thanks in advance grace

Answer from Pegasus:

Grace, The transformer has one white and one black wire. These are used to attach to the input side or line voltage. The red leads attach to the output side, the low voltage side.

Question from Wayne:

Hi, I need a replacement transformer for that powered 3 x 20W halogen bookshelf light like this: http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/108157508/Ikea_Inreda_bookshelf_wall_mount_halogen/showimage.html The product is discontinued but the transformer looks exactly like page 11-14 of their current product below: http://www.ikea.com/ms/en_US/customer_service/assembly/G/G20128385.pdf I have attached a picture of the transformer and the spec shows: 110-120V ~ 60 Hz 0.64A 11.5V ~ 10-60W Class 2 Transformer Will this transfer work to replace it? Thank you.

Answer from Pegasus:

Wayne, Yes, this transformer is a suitable replacement.

Question from Dennis Mynatt:

I am replacing a Jing Heng TJN1060-2M electronic transformerI/P: 120 V, 60Hz 0.5A. output 11.6V, 60W Max, Class 2 E242427. For use with 12V Halogen Lamp. Will this transformer work?

Answer from Pegasus:

Dennis, Yes, this transformer should be an adequate replacement.

Question from Lawrence:

Can I use this to run standard 12V LED tape lighting?

Answer from Pegasus:

Lawrence, It depends on the LED tape light you are using. All of the LED tape light products we sell require a constant voltage LED DRIVER - not a transformer. I can't say for sure that's the case for other LED tape light products. I would strongly recommend checking with the manufacturer of the tape light for the type of power supply needed. Note our constant voltage LED drivers are shown on this page: http://www.pegasuslighting.com/constant-voltage-led-drivers.html

Question from Bob Brigance:

I need to replace the transformer in a low profile under cabinet light fixture. Physical dimensions and electrical parameters of this transformer appear to be what I'm looking for. The fixture uses three 12V, 18W Halogen bulbs with a three position toggle switch. Switch: Low-Off-High. Question: Will this transformer function with a Low / High toggle switch in lieu of a dimmer?

Answer from Pegasus:

Bob, I see no reason why the transformer will not work in your installation. However, I would recommend contacting the manufacturer to make sure there are not any compatibility issues with the light fixture.

Question from Matt Moody:

I have a fixture that uses 2 x 20W halogen MR16 bulbs. Started using 2 x 7W LED MR16 bulbs a few months ago. Everything worked fine. Now fuse keeps burning out and I suspect the transformer. Old transformer is a 60W 12V AC output. What transformer do you recommend?

Answer from Pegasus:

I would recommend verifying that your LED MR16 bulbs are designed for AC before you replace the transformer. It may be that they operate on DC, which would mean you need a different component call a driver. If that's not the issue, then try replacing with a 60W 12V AC transformer like this one.
