105W 12V electronic transformer

Submitted by |

Works as advertised. The load is only 80W, so this unit is cruising. Heat is not as much a problem as the 300W unit I'm using and reviewed earlier. This unit was located in a 3-gang metal box that will be fitted with a .125 aluminum cover plate for heat sinking - I want the unit to live a long and cool life.

Pros:
Compact, relatively inexpensive

Cons:
Special dimmer needed for light level control, which is much more $$$ than the normal dimmer.

Question from Jere:

I asked this question; I have a halogen light fixture with 5 each 20 watt halogen bulbs. Will the 12V ac output from this fixture operate the halogen bulbs properly? The manufacturers recommended replacement bulb is an Osram Halostar G4 12 Volt, 20 Watt bulb You answered me but did not clarify that the halogen bulbs can operate on 12v AC. Is there any way you can tell me that?

Answer from Pegasus:

You state that the manufacturers recommended bulb is: Osram Halostar G4 12 Volt, 20 Watt bulb. Based on this information, it sounds like a 12V system.

Question from Jere:

I have a halogen light fixture with 5 each 20 watt halogen bulbs. Will the 12V ac output from this fixture operate the halogen bulbs properly? The manufacturers recommended replacement bulb is an Osram Halostar G4 12 Volt, 20 Watt bulb.

Answer from Pegasus:

This transformer can handle a max of 105W. Your (5) halogen light bulbs will use a total of 100W. Since your halogen light bulbs require 12V and it's less than 105W, then yes, this will work.

Question from Mike:

I have a twin track monorail type lighting system by Eurofase. Can this be used on that system?

Answer from Pegasus:

Mike, It depends on what type of transformer your system requires. I would check with Eurofase to find out the specs needed for your exact lighting system. If the system requires a 12V electronic transformer rated for at 105W or less, then this item should work.
