Led driver

Submitted by |

Okay to work with does not meet electrical code requirements.

Pros:

Cons:
Can not hook 110 volts to driver unless you put it in an enclosure. Can not have live circuit exposed!!!

From Pegasus:

In general most drivers and transformers need to be stored in a junction box.

Ask a Question

Question from Fred:

Why do you refer to the drivers as dimmable when the wire drawings show that the dimmer is providing the dimming?

Answer from Pegasus:

Fred: This is because the main function of a basic driver is to transform the 120-volt power to what is needed for an LED light. The term dimmable is used for power supplies that also includes the necessary circuitry to be compatible with specific dimmers. Therefore the power supply, the dimmer and a low voltage lamp will all work in conjunction with each other.

Question from Randy:

Is this driver dimmable on the line voltage input as well as the low voltage output?

Answer from Pegasus:

This driver is dimmable on the low voltage side.

Question from Paul McGovern:

Does the driver need air circulation or can it be installed in a small over-cabinet space that is hidden by the face frame? Space is 16in deep X 37in wide X 1 3/4in tall but caulked to restrict air circulation ... if not there, it can only be placed exposed on the top shelf of a bookcase.

Answer from Pegasus:

Paul, it needs to be installed in a well-ventilated area per the manufacturer's instructions. If your space is caulked to limit air circulation than I would not recommend placing it there.
