- Dimmable: the Hardwire Xenon Task Lights are fully dimmable
- Dimmers: For a complete description of the Line Voltage Dimmers that we offer please see our Line Voltage Dimmers section. For more information about dimming the Xenon Line Voltage Task Lights please see the FAQs .
INSTALLATION
- Easy to Install: please refer to these Installation Instructions (PDF). Always check local electrical codes and the National Electrical Code (NEC) before installing any lighting products. It is also wise to consult with a licensed electrician in your geographical area about any electrical details that you might have questions about and to make certain that you are satisfying all of the appropriate electrical codes.
- Captive Screws: each light fixture has captive installation screws already located in the right locations; just screw them in while they are in place. No need for keyholes on the “top” of the light fixtures and no need for any templates to locate the installation hole positions.
- Getting Power: these Xenon Line Voltage Hardwire Task Lights may be "hardwired" using standard household wire. They are easy to install using the wire nuts that are supplied and the multiple knock-outs on the ends and the rear of the hard-wire task light. The hard-wire models can be parallel wired up to 640 watts (32 light bulbs). One standard household wire between each fixture completes the “chain”. Always check local electrical codes and the National Electrical Code (NEC) before installing any light fixtures.

Measurement Guide for Xenon Line Voltage Hardwire Task Lights
When determining how many Xenon Line Voltage Task Lights and which size you will need for under cabinet lighting you first will have to measure the space where the fixtures will be attached. To do this you should NOT measure the face of the cabinets; you should measure the "cavity" under the cabinet where the fixtures will actually be placed. We recommend that you "fill up" the cavity space with as many fixtures that can fit. For example, for a space that measures 28 inches we recommend that you use the fixture that measures 24in long, NOT the one that measures 16in. This will ensure that the countertop below will be uniformly lit.

FAQs for Xenon Line Voltage Under Cabinet Task Light
Dimmers | Hard Wiring Guidelines | Xenon Bipin Lamps
- DIMMERS
Q) Can I use a wall dimmer with the Xenon Line Voltage Task Lights?
- A) Yes, a wall dimmer may be used to control the Hardwire Xenon Line Voltage Task Lights.
- Q) What kind of dimmer switch should I use?
- A) An ordinary incandescent (line voltage) wall dimmer can be used to dim the Xenon Line Voltage Task Lights as long as the wattage rating of the dimmer exceeds the total wattage of all of the fixtures controlled by that dimmer.
- Q) Where can I find dimmer switches that are designed to control line voltage light fixtures?
- A) Please see our Dimmers section.

- HARDWIRING GUIDELINES
Q) How should the Xenon Line Voltage Task Lights system be wired?
- A) It is always wise to consult an electrician in your geographical area about any electrical details that you might have questions about and to make certain that you are fulfilling all of the appropriate electrical codes.
- Q) What type of wire should be used to connect the Xenon Line Voltage Task Light to the household current?
- A) You can use standard household Romex wire, normally found at your local hardware store, to wire the Hardwire Xenon Task Lights directly to power.
- Q) Can I connect several Xenon Line Voltage Task Lights together and control them with one switch
- A) Absolutely. If you are connecting the Hardwire Xenon Task Lights simply connect the “first” xenon task light to household current using standard household Romex wire, then connect the “second” xenon task light to the “first” task light using Romex wire, then connect the “third” xenon task light to the “second” task light using Romex wire, etc.
- Q) How should the Hardwire Xenon Task Lights be wired - in series or in parallel?
- A) The Hardwire Xenon Line Voltage Task Lights should be wired in parallel with each other and in parallel with the household power.
- Q) How do I make certain that the Hardwire Xenon Task Lights are wired in parallel?
- A) Simply make certain that each of the two wire nuts inside the "first" task light has three wires: a Romex wire bringing power to the first task light, a wire inside the “first” task light bringing power to the lamp inside that “first” task light, and a Romex wire bringing power to the second task light. Then simply continue this same wiring scheme throughout the “chain” of task lights that are connected in parallel.
Back to FAQs top
- XENON BIPIN LAMPS
Q) What makes this a xenon lighting system?
- A) Xenon gas has been introduced into the glass envelope of the xenon bipin lamp.
- Q) Why is xenon gas added into the glass envelope of the lamp?
- A) The addition of xenon gas into the glass envelope increases the rated life of the lamp. The addition of the xenon gas also creates a light source that has a color temperature that is higher (cooler) than an ordinary incandescent lamp but still lower (warmer) than a halogen lamp.
- Q) What is the rated life of the xenon line voltage bipin lamps?
- A) 8,000 hours.
- Q) What does “rated life” mean?
- A) The “rated life” of a lamp signifies the time at which 50% of a large quantity of these lamps will have burned out. That means that 50% of these lamps will burn out BEFORE the “rated life” and 50% will burn out AFTER the “rated life”. The “rated life” does NOT mean that every one of the lamps will last at least that long.
- Q) Is this definition of “rated life” true for all lamps?
- A) Yes, this is the standard rating for the life of ALL types of lamps.
- Q) What “kind of light” is given off by the xenon line voltage bipin lamps?
- A) As mentioned earlier xenon lamps have a color temperature that is between ordinary incandescent and halogen. That is, the light is cooler in appearance than incandescent but warmer in appearance than halogen.

Under Cabinet Lighting
November 18, 2012
I have searched high and low for under cabinet lighting that can be hard wired and is dimmable. The Pegasus website answered all of my questions; other sites left me unsure about the technical questions I had. I ordered 8 of these lights and they are now installed in my newly renovated kitchen. They are perfect!
Pros:It is dimmable! They are linkable, so they can be operated from a single dimmer switch on the wall.
Cons:So far, I have no complaints about the product! Be sure you confirm that your items are available and not back ordered. The Pegasus website is not designed that well - important details like whether it's backordered are posted, but you really have to look for it. I paid extra for two-day delivery, only to have a few of my products delivered. The rest came along later, but that missed detail messed up my construction schedule with the electrician.

Happy with my new lights
June 30, 2012
The quality of these lights are wonderful. None of this transformer nonsense you have to deal with
some other lights. Just can't get these anywhere for this price.
Do not show under my cabinets at all.
Sizes fit perfectly under the cabinets and emit more than enough light for working or mood.
Works great with my dimmer light switch and I love the bronze color goes well with my oak cabinets.
Pros:easy install
quality
color
price
beautiful warm light
Cons:nothing

Xenon under counter lamp works great.
July 26, 2011
The xenon under counter lamp came a few days after I ordered it. The packaging was very good. The product was very good quality. The dual lamp switch is convenient and I was able to hook up a dimmer switch to this lamp and that works great as well.

These were the lights I wanted, but I am now leery of a purchase like this online, because of the time factor if there is a problem like I had.
May 23, 2011
I was not happy to have one of the eight arrive damaged.
Pros:They are exactly what I wanted.
Cons:I purchased 8 of these at $38 each (because they were bronze) and one of them was broken. The wires were snapped off and I paid my electrician extra to fix it so we could get the job done without me having to ship the damaged one back and wait for another.

good fixtures
April 28, 2011
They are a tad bulky, but for the price, they give off great light. Very bright and clear. I received the product within a couple of days. For this reason I have returned several times.
Pros:Quality of light at a decent price
Cons:A bit bulky, very sharp insides. Caution should be used when wiring.

Great under cabinet lights!
March 21, 2011
Saved over 35% over other cabinet light brands and received a better product. Casing is very solid and the product was made for easy wiring/installation. My kitchen contractor did not know of these brand of lights but will now recommend to his customers. Best product, best price after looking at local retail and online.
Pros:All metal casing and opening mechanism.
Good diffuser.
Large enough for standard electrical hardware connections. Easy to install.
Cons:Slightly thicker than other lights but this extra thickness did make installation much easier.
