I just ordered a Super LED Road Flare. Can they operate while charging? Thanks.
By Jeri from Hilliard, FL on November 26, 2012
Answer:
Yes, they will work while they are charging. You can use either the wall charger or car charger.
By Bruce from Carlsbad, CA on November 29, 2012
Answer:
The flares can be operated while charging but that negates the value of the magnet at the bottom of the flare, since the charging module fits to the bottom over the magnet. Thus, the flare would slide all over if used on a smooth surface during charging UNLESS you turn it upside down and place it on its top after turning it on. It will work fine upside down as well as right side up. Really, there is no reason to leave one of these connected while in use due to the long life of the units. They last 8 hours or more in use. In fact, Pegasus claims 90 days storage between charges...I've found after 90 days the units are still fully charged and attempted recharging will only be about 5 seconds, showing they truly are fully charged. Hope this helps.

Tough, Bright Emergency Essential
October 3, 2012
As an investigator, I need a light that can literally be "tossed" anywhere without thinking that it will malfunction. Most cheaper lights fail...this one doesn't! Built like a tank with a thick protective cage enclosing the light, and a heavy duty plexiglass cover over all the LED lamps. Cheap lights have the LED's exposed to damage, but this has everything protected.
Bright, with multiple patterns and easy to operate. Magnet holds like a gorilla. Multi-angle LED's give good coverage whether the flare is on the ground or on a vehicle trunk or roof. Heavy enough so that it hugs the ground in a wind. and won't be blown away by truck traffic or heavy winds.
I purchased the yellow model, and may purchase an amber to see if there is a difference in brightness on our vehicles. Highly impressed with this unit.
Pros:
Quality built, super duty flare
Rechargeable by AC or car DC
Brilliant signal
Reasonably priced
Excellent service by Pegasus
Cons:
Wish the battery was replaceable

Good at night or -heavy- overcast.

Distinctive in the dark. In daytime standard flares are far more visible.
Pros:
The 'quad mode' seems the brightest mode. Could be my perception. Very durable construction. Great charging system.
Cons:
You have to point one side of the LEDS squarely facing oncoming traffic, otherwise they'll be angled and less visible. Also the 'quad mode' is IMHO 3 flashes per cycle.
