ELECTRICAL FEATURES
On/Off Switch: integral on/off switch
Switching: when these LED thin under cabinet task lights are linked together, an individual fixture may be adjusted by the on/off fixture switch without affecting the other fixtures. Additionally, if multiple fixtures are hardwired to power, then they may be controlled by a single wall switch as long as the three position switch on each fixture is left in the "on" position.
Linkable: there are 3 ways to connect (link) these LED Thin Under Cabinet Task Lights together electrically.
1) End-to-End - They can be connected end-to-end directly to each other using the plastic male and female connectors (which cannot be removed) that are included at the two ends of each task light. This method allows 2 task lights to be touching each other at the point of connection.
2) Linking Cables - They can be linked using Linking Cables to link the male connector of one task light to the female connector of another. This method allows 2 task lights to be connected across a distance of about 3ft or less. To purchase Linking Cables for this task light please order on the Accessories tab.
3) ROMEX Wire - They can be connected using the appropriate household ROMEX® wire, ROMEX® connectors, and the knockouts at the rear of each task light. [Caution: do not connect (link) more than 360 watts in any single run of LED thin under cabinet task lights.]
Dimmable: with most standard incandescent dimmers. Most incandescent dimmers require a minimum load of 40 watts. If you are not powering this many watts, we recommend Lutron’s C-L dimmers because of their low end adjustment dial, which allows for better dimming performance of LEDs.
Dimmers: For a complete description of the Line Voltage Dimmers that we offer please see our Line Voltage Dimmers section. To purchase dimmers for this fixture please order in the Accessories tab.
INSTALLATION
Easy to Install: please refer to these Installation Instructions (PDF). [Caution: Always check local electrical codes and the National Electrical Code (NEC) before installing any lighting products. It is also wise to consult with a licensed electrician in your geographical area about any electrical details that you might have questions about and to make certain that you are satisfying all of the appropriate electrical codes.]
Captive Screws: each light fixture has captive installation screws already located in the right locations; just screw them in while they are in place. No need for keyholes on the “top” of the light fixtures and no need for any templates to locate the installation hole positions.
Optional Linking Cables: available in white or black and in three lengths: 12in, 24in, and 36in. A Linking Cable can be used to electrically link 2 LED thin task lights together. Optional linking cables may be ordered in the Accessories tab.
Optional Power Cord: 6-foot power cord with 3 wires and a grounded 3-prong plug is available in white or black for optional plug-in installations. Optional 6-foot power cords may be ordered in the Accessories tab.

Measurement Guide for LED Thin Under Cabinet Task Lights
When determining how many LED Thin Under Cabinet Task Lights and which size you will need for under cabinet lighting you first will have to measure the space where the fixtures will be attached. To do this you should not measure the face of the cabinets; instead, you should measure the "cavity" under each of the cabinets where the fixtures will actually be placed. We recommend that you "fill up" each of the cabinet cavities with the longest fixture that can fit. For example, for a space that measures 28 inches across we recommend that you use the under cabinet task light that has a fixture length of 24in, not the one that has a fixture length of 16in. This will ensure that the countertop and the backsplash below will be uniformly lit.

What is the dimmable range? 5-100%?
By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on November 12, 2012
Answer:
Frank,
Dimming range is 5 - 100% when using Lutron's Skylark or Diva dimmers.
Note if you are not powering at least 40W, we specifically recommend the Lutron's C-L Skylark or Diva dimmers.
By Danny from Washington on November 12, 2012
Answer:
I use the Lutron LED dimmer and that does go from about 5% to 100% lighting. I have three units on one dimmer and no issues.
By Pam from Zionsville, IN on November 12, 2012
Answer:
Yes, that would be an accurate dimmable range.
By Justin from Rutland, MA on November 12, 2012
Answer:
I would say these are dimmable down to about 20%. If you adjust the dimmer wheel down much further than that you'll find that they flicker. Great product though....very happy with the light they give off.
By Jim Kosloskey from Oscoda, Michigan on November 12, 2012
Answer:
We just had these installed and the kitchen is not yet finished but we have 'exercised' the lighting.
I just went and checked - while I don't have a light meter it appears the dimming is infinite between off and fully on.
By that I mean I could dim them down to where I could barely see the lights on when looking at the fixture from underneath the cabinet.
We are currently just using a basic mechanical dimmer.
By Fern from Williston, ND on November 14, 2012
Answer:
I would say the dimmer's lowest is around 15%. I love the ambient glow in the evening - just enough light to see my beautiful back splash and give it that cozy, romantic setting.

What is the maximum length allowed between two task lights, running from the same power supply and (I assume) the same junction box?
Just to supply you with some additional information. This will be hard-wired.
Do you sell the connector between task lights?
Or could I simply purchase 14/2, 14/3 cable?
Or 18 gauge?
Please do not leave out any details...
I would like to have the lighting continue on the other side of the kitchen which is almost 8 feet away.
Thanking you in advance,
By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on March 19, 2013
Answer:
David,
The max run for these under cabinet lights is limited by the total wattage connected - 360W, so I don't think there would be any issue with 8ft between the fixtures.
We do sell connectors (see Accessories tab) but they are not that long.
In terms of the cable gauge, that will depend on your circuit amp rating. I strongly suggest consulting an electrician who knows local electrical codes since you are proposing a run of 8ft of wire.

Can I use an X10 dimmer with this product?
By Chris from Pegasus Lighting on December 24, 2012
Answer:
Skip:
This product is compatible with most standard incandescent dimmers. However, I am not familiar with X10 dimmers so I cannot tell you for sure that these LED under cabinet lights are compatible with that type of dimmer.
What I have found with LED and incandescent dimmers is to check the minimum wattage load for your specific dimmer. For example, if your wattage load from all of your LED lights is 16 watts, but your dimmer has a minimum wattage load of 40 watts, then your dimmer may not work correctly.
We do offer dimmers for LED and CFL lights. They can be found at http://www.pegasuslighting.com/cfl-led-dimmers.html.

1. How many fixtures can you link together?
2. Does each fixture have an on off switch so you can turn off individual fixtures?
By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on September 17, 2012
Answer:
John,
1. A max of 360 watts can be linked together.
2. Yes, each fixture has an on/off switch so that you can turn off individual light fixtures.
By Steven from Gainesville, FL on September 17, 2012
Answer:
1) Fixtures can be installed so they connect end-to-end, directly into each other in a single “bank” . Recommended number of connections = 2-13 fixtures. Maximum run for a single bank of fixtures is 360 watts.
2) Each Fixture does have an on and off switch. Also, when units are banked together you can switch (the fixture switch) individual lights off within the bank without affecting the others in that run.
By David from Fairfax, VA on September 17, 2012
Answer:
I don't know if there is a limit to the number of fixtures that can be linked. As to the second question, the answer is yes, fixtures are individually switched. I have two that are linked and wired to a standard wall switch. I can turn them both on at once with the wall switch, or use either one at a time with the fixture switches.
By Robert from West Allis, WI on September 17, 2012
Answer:
Each fixture has an on/off switch. The lights can be controlled either by a wall switch (dimming or traditional), or the fixture switch. The maximum recommendation for linking according to the instructions is 5 units.
By Dave Ursini from Springfield, VA on September 17, 2012
Answer:
On question 1, the number of links is determined by the available wattage/amperage on the circuit. Since the power requirement for each fixture is very low (as compared to halogen/xenon fixtures) you should have no difficulty linking the required number to accommodate your needs. I have 4 linked on a circuit that also includes other dining room plugs.
On question 2, yes they have individual on/off lights on each fixture. Normally I leave them in the ON position and control the lights with the main switch, but if I don't want light on one portion of the countertop, that light can be individually secured with its ON/OFF switch.
By Russell from Cincinnati, OH on September 17, 2012
Answer:
1) Not sure if there is a limit, but I have 4 linked end to end on a single switch.
2) Yes there is a switch on each individual fixture.
By Bruce from Ottawa, Canada on September 17, 2012
Answer:
1. It isn't the number of fixtures you can link, it's the number of LEDs you can connect on a single circuit. As the website clearly says: "Caution: do not connect (link) more than 360 watts in any single run of LED thin under cabinet task lights." As each LED takes about 3 watts, the limit is 130 LEDs. That's a lot of fixtures.
2. The product technical specs clearly says "yes" to the on/off switch and the switch is clearly visible in the product photo and drawings.
By Justin from Rutland, MA on September 17, 2012
Answer:
You can link a total of 360 watts total. Check your wattage per fixture on the spec sheet. Each light has a separate on/off switch.
By Dale Vogelsanger from Braidwood, IL on January 22, 2013
I want to put under cabinet lighting in. I am undecided between xenon and LED. They will be hard-wired. I am also unsure on wattage to use and whether a light should be under every cabinet. I have attached pictures. There will be some can lights installed in the ceiling for general lighting. The backsplash will be copper colored glass tiles. Any suggestions or explanations on how to determine the correct wattage?
By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on January 23, 2013
Answer:
Dave,
For the absolute best effect, I would place under cabinet lights under each cabinet. This will provide even illumination. Leaving one section without a light can make it stand out in a negative way.
In terms of wattage/length, your best bet is to fill the under cabinet space with the largest fixture(s) possible. For example, if you have a 26in wide cabinet, we suggest using the 24.5in fixture.
In terms of LED vs. Xenon, the light from our LED under cabinet light is very similar to that of Xenon. The difference is that the LED under cabinet lights are more expensive because of the newer technology. With the LEDs, you won't worry about changing light bulbs and you won't use nearly as much power compared to xenon.
Bottom line - if the initial increased cost of the LED under cabinet lights is something you feel comfortable with, then go for it. Our customers love these under cabinet lights!
By Russell from Cincinnati, OH on January 23, 2013
Answer:
Yes, I would put them under every cabinet. If you don't there will be dark spots on your counter where they are missing. There is a significant difference between your 'task' (under cabinet) lighting and your 'ambient' (can or overhead) lighting.
As to the wattage, I would focus more on the length. Go with the length that fits closest to the width of each upper cabinet. If your upper cabinets are really wide then you will probably need two fixtures for that cabinet.
As to comparison with Xenon, you will see multiple benefits. Operating temperature (Xenon is really hot), efficiency (you can keep these on for longer and not worry about the cost), and lifespan (these will last probably longer than your kitchen). Also, these are really nice LED fixtures because they accept line voltage and do not need a transformer.
Good luck!

Answer:
There are 4 models of this light with wattages of 9, 8.7, 13.1, and 17.7. You just need to add up the number of watts per light to get the total wattage. I have three 16' units, hardwired, over my sink for a total of watts (39.3) all on an electronic type dimmer 3 way. For under the cabinets closest to counter I used 1/2" ribbon LED lines of 168" (x2) and extra strength double sided sticky tape.
By Billsmom from San Diego on January 23, 2013
Answer:
We are 100% satisfied with these thin LED under cabinet lights. Did lots of research and now all our kitchen lighting is LED. This product fits so nicely under the cabinet- it really disappears and is always cool to the touch. I can't answer your specific wattage questions but I would encourage you to light up your kitchen as much as possible; you can't overdo it in a kitchen! We have recessed, under-cabinet, upper-cabinet, and pendants over the island and all are used regularly. Except for our pendants, all the lighting is LED and dimmable. Lots of flexibility and energy efficient, too!
By Peter L from Beaverton, OR on January 23, 2013
Answer:
You are asking some questions that are really up to your personal choice. In my opinion, every cabinet should get the same lighting treatment so it looks consistent. I used LED over xenon for 2 reasons, energy savings and more importantly, HEAT! My brother has xenon and they put out enough heat that he has to make sure NOT to put anything affected by heat in the cabinet above (i.e. chocolate).
I used a dimmer on my system so I could vary the brightness depending on my mood. I looked for an LED system that had the most LED elements per inch, to give it the smoothest lighting look. No "spotting". These lights were easy to install.
By Pam from Zionsville, IN on January 23, 2013
Answer:
I agree, put one under each cabinet. I love these lights. Your kitchen is very similar to mine and I have a light under each cabinet and put them on a dimmer switch. I previously had xenon under cabinet lights and they got very hot and eventually burned out the entire light fixture because there was not enough space between the fixture and cabinet for air flow to keep it cool. The inside of the cabinet would even get warm. I would always use LED lighting instead of anything else.
By Greg from Santa Maria, CA on January 23, 2013
Answer:
I suggest using Pegasus LED Thin Under Cabinet Task Lighting. Use one unit beneath each cabinet. Don’t worry about wattage – these units put out more than enough light when used under each cabinet. Essentially, the rationale is to over-illuminate and then dim-down the lighting if it’s too bright. We find this works well for our family. You can also alternate and double-up on the number of LED lighting units by using different circuits for primary lighting and/or secondary lighting if you want very bright. This will allow switching-on super bright (a primary and secondary circuit) if that’s what you’re looking for. I also suggest you invest in one LED light unit to try out. These are expense and quite an investment, but they function extremely well and will last for years. The Pegasus LED units and junction boxes wire-up easy and look professional. This stuff is high quality.

Can the linking cables be connected, or daisy chained, to give you more flexibility? I have one jump I need to make over the space where the range is.
By Elliot from Yorktown Heights, New York on February 4, 2013
Answer:
The answer about being able to connect cable to cable is yes, but it is ill advised to have wiring openly affixed above the heated cooking area. It may serve you better to protect the wire itself in either some form of protective wire mold, or carry it across the range area in some other fashion that protects it from getting any heat to damage the integrity of the insulation of the cables.
By Dash from Chattaroy on February 4, 2013
Answer:
Yes, you can.
You can also tap the power to the range vent hood and run two lines to hard wire both units.
By Ken from CA on February 4, 2013
Answer:
Based on my experience, I would bet you could easily satisfy the requirements you mention..here's why - I have hard-wired 7 of these Pegasus LED under cabinet lights - 3 daisy chained in one direction and 4 daisy chained in another, all controlled with one dimmer switch and they work beautifully...I have to believe that using the linking cables you could accomplish the same effect only it would be a lot easier to install than the approach I took..also, I am very impressed with the dimming feature of these lights to produce very low lighting, far superior to other LEDs that I have installed.

I see the Hardwire J-Box and Linking Cables in the Accessories. My electrician has proposed running the 14 ga. wiring directly to the fixtures (inside a wire mold channel) instead. Can it be done this way, or must your connectors be used?
By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on February 13, 2013
Answer:
Yes, you can connect the light fixtures via household wire. The linking cables and junction box simply allow for a neater installation and are optional.

My under cabinet space will only fit something roughly 4" x 9" and must be plugged in. I do not know how to judge wattage. I want it to light up a work space where I chop. I had a two way halogen light there that lasted for the last 15 years...Is that my only choice? My only complaint was how hot it got on high. Help!
By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on October 26, 2012
Answer:
Bernadette,
The smallest size of our LED under cabinet lights should fit in your space. It won't get nearly as hot as a halogen fixture.
I would suggest the 9W, 8in model. Then, to plug in, simply add the power cord from the Accessories tab.
Good luck!
By Danny from Chattaroy, WA. on October 26, 2012
Answer:
This will work for your needs. The amount of light given off is very good and comparable to what you had. The bonus would be there will be almost no heat given off.
By George from New York on October 26, 2012
Answer:
You should probably be looking at "lumens" instead of "wattage" if you're trying to determine light output. I have the 24" version of these lights and I love them. Plenty of light and they don't get hot. And LEDs don't consume a lot of power. I don't think you can go wrong.

Excellent lights
April 24, 2013
Totally excellent. Bought 6 - two 8, two 16, and a 24. The electrician allowed me to purchase these myself, instead of going with whatever he could get from his suppliers. He was not familiar or aware of these, but he liked them very much. And they were less expensive and slimmer than anything he could get. He also really liked the J-boxes and connectors (where they could be used).
The connectors are very convenient, where they fit, but they do take up quite a bit of extra room. Because of this, we had to hardwire two of them (which the electrician was expecting to do anyway). The body of the connector adds an inch and a half, and the cable going to the J-box needs another inch and half to make the bend. So an 8" fixture works in a 15" cabinet, but probably needs to be hardwired for a 12" cabinet. A 16" fixture just fit an 18" cabinet (with 16 1/2" inside width), but needed to be hardwired.
Also had to notch one side of one cabinet (27" cabinet with a 24" fixture) to allow the jumper to the fixture in the next cabinet. No big deal. As I was installing the new cabinets myself, I installed each fixture first, before mounting the cabinets. This seemed easier than working upside down later.
The light is excellent - a warm white, similar to incandescent, but not overly yellow like CFL's. The color seems to match our new Cree ceiling down-lights. Looks great on our new granite counters. Dimmer works well with them. The slimness is excellent, and very important in our decision. It's very nice that they get only slightly warm - not enough to warm up the cabinets at all. Also, Pegasus Lighting is excellent. A couple questions (before ordering) were answered quickly. The order was processed and delivered quickly, with email updates at every step. Recommend highly.
Pros:
Slim body is hidden by cabinet frame.
Not hot.
Nice light quality
Dimmable
Cons:
None.

Love these Lights
September 22, 2012
We replaced old LED under-cabinet lights with these. It's amazing how 3 lights in each fixture can put out more light than the old LEDs, which had 28 lights per fixture. These LEDs are smaller, more streamlined, and obviously take up less room under the cabinet. Light is bright and crisp.
Pros:
Everything. Size, brightness, compactness.
Cons:
I dislike nothing.

Kitchen Remodel
September 16, 2012
After finding these lights and watching the YouTube video I knew I had found the right lighting for our kitchen remodel. The LED's are a clean white light and it is amazing how much even an 8" fixture gives off. I have 6 of these mounted under the cabinets and they are all on a dimmer. Easy to install and a great product!
Pros:
Low energy usage, compact design and size, well built and easy to install.

Great under cabinet lighting
June 15, 2012
Heard about LED and read some reviews. A little nervous about the price. This particular make was one of three recommended. Bought one 32in, two 16in and one 8in. The 8in is not energy star rated and just isn't as good as the 32in or 16in in the light it gives. Easy to connect together and direct wire to the 120V supply.
Pegasus is significantly cheaper than anyone else on-line. The lights arrived quickly with plenty of email updates. Excellent service. No problems.
Definitely recommend the 32in and 16in. Never realized how dim the old under-cabinet lighting was!
Pros:
Great light quantity and quality
Sturdy construction
Easy installation
Well designed
Low power consumption
NO bulb changing
Very Long Life
Cons:
Pricey

LED Thin Under Cabinet Task Lights
June 3, 2012
These lights were installed after ugly fluorescents had been put in and found very unattractive because the new granite counter top has a mirror like surface. Reflecting ugly is not pretty. These new LED lights are very attractive--the two are connected with each other and have one switch and with the dimmer they are very flexible as well. Smaller than the previous lights, much more attractive, these were the right choice. They look great.

These were expensive, but I like that they are dimmable LED and they will hopefully never burn out while I'm around. They also look great with the granite and tile backsplash. If you are thinking about undercabinet lights and have never had them before, I recommend you get them. Since I've had them, I don't know how I got along all these years without them!
Pros:
dimmable
low profile
easy to install
lighting is excellent
Cons:
pricey

LED Undercabinet/Task Lighting
November 14, 2011
Love the very high quality of this product and the dark brown/bronze color makes them virtually invisible underneath our kitchen cabinets. We liked them so much, we ordered more.....great product, and dimmable.
Pros:
low profile, color, dimmable
Cons:
nothing

Excellent light

Had to completely disassemble the light to get the wires freed up. Once that was done, worked like a charm. Does everything it is supposed to do. Not for the person timid about electrical wiring.
Cons:
Still very expensive technology.

Great Lights!

We have installed the LED thin under cabinet task lights in our new kitchen. They are fantastic. Their light output is nice and bright and really highlights our new dark countertops. They are so thin you cannot even see them under the cabinets. The LEDs stay cool to the touch even when left on for over two hours. We have them installed on a Lutron Diva line voltage dimmer which is very convenient when we want to leave these on for accent lighting.

Pricey but nice

I purchased six fixtures of various lengths for my new kitchen. They are thin and thus completely hidden under the cabinets which is great. I have them mounted in the center of each cabinet and controlled with wall mounted dimmers. The light pattern is good and they do a great job of illuminating my dark granite counter. My only gripe is a small one; the clips that connect the whips to the fixtures stick out below the fixtures. Good service from Pegasus on switching some lengths so I didn't have to wait for a back order.
