About our Miniature Holiday Lights Repair Tool, Light Keeper Pro
Description

As you're unpacking your boxes of old holiday lights, this Light Keeper Pro repair tool might be your secret weapon to avoid holiday stress. At the very least, it will certainly prevent you from making another trip to the store for replacement holiday lights. This tool is easy to use, effective, and battery operated.

  • Uses: repairs icicle lights, cluster lights, holiday lights, lighted reindeer, pre-lit trees [Caution: not intended for use with LED lights.]
  • Repairs Miniature Holiday Lights: to fix most problems in seconds, simply remove any unlit miniature light bulb, connect the empty socket to the Light Keeper Pro's socket connector, and squeeze the trigger a few times until the lights turn on. To complete the repair, replace the removed light bulb and any bad light bulbs.

To see it in action, view this video from one of our local Pittsburgh TV news stations.

  • Light Bulb Tester: plug the questionable light bulb into tester located on the top of tool. If the light bulb lights up, it is still functioning.
  • Fuse Tester: place fuse into tester located on top of tool. If the LED indicator light turns on, the fuse is still functioning.
  • Beeping Continuity Detector: press button on top and scan a malfunctioning string of lights until beeping stops to locate loose lamps or faulty sections of wire
  • Light Bulb Extractor: the light bulb puller, located on the tip of the Light Keeper Pro, aids in removing those hard-to-remove miniature light bulbs
  • Handy Storage Compartment: holds spare light bulbs and fuses [Caution: The 3.5-volt light bulbs should be used on the 35 and 70-light sets and the 2.5-volt light bulbs should be used with the 50, 100, and 150-light sets.]
  • Batteries Included: three alkaline 1.5V button batteries are included

It was like a horse with wings
November 2, 2013
Oh gosh, back many years ago as a complete skeptic I bought one of these light keeper pro gadgets. Every year near Christmas time I had sat in Grandma's gold crushed velvet swivel rocker and pulled hundreds of lights and tested them individually until I finally found the one that wouldn't light, sometimes 4 or even more in the same string. I never believed there was much truth to that little sentence on the boxes that said, "if one goes out the rest stay lit", so it was this or new lights every year, which we could never afford. Sometimes it was so bad for me that Christmas songs' words changed as my brothers and sisters names came out under my breath and reindeer trampled them in bloody white drifted snow, since the horse knew the way to punish them that day who don't share in the chores. Well THIS LITTLE THING! OMG it changed all that, and the dread of getting out the light. With the LIGHT KEEPER PRO I was thrilled. It became my fun to guess, although there were no prizes, how many clicks it was going to take for the strings to light up. In 2007 we had terrible power surges and almost every light was blown. It wasn't very helpful then, because after way too many pulls of the trigger the set would flash very brightly and go back off because so many of the bulbs had been blown. But under normal circumstances, when the tree was turned on, part of the lights were out, I could pull the light keeper pro in, and click click and on would come the lights, and all I had to do was look for any bulbs still unlit and change them out. IT WAS REAL MAGIC. Well last year some friends came over with their friends in tow, and I happened to be testing the lights when they all arrived. They were astounded when they witnessed the unlit strings, watched me plug the LIGHT KEEPER PRO onto the string, and click click click click click click click, and WALLAH lights! A couple of them even took turns testing the tool on my lights. When everybody left it appeared my LIGHT KEEPER PRO, had flown away like a horse with wings! My friends' friend are banned from ever coming on our property, and I found the best price for a replacement at PEGASUSLIGHTING.COM. Thank you Pegasus Lighting. This year after Thanksgiving dinner, I will again sit in Grandma's crushed velvet swivel rocker and click through strings of light. And I must say in the last 10 or so years the arthritis has gotten so painful I doubt I could ever do this the old fashioned way of pulling each and every light, until I come to the last one that mattered to make the string light.
Pros:
OMG click your way to the light Easy to use includes a fuse tester even has a tester that helps you find loose or missing bulbs
Cons:
yet another item for yearly storage they grow wings and fly away they don't help untangle strings correct voltage replacement bulbs are hard to find and much cheaper when bought in an entire set

Works great!

If you decorate with a lot of lights, you need this tool. Watch the online tutorial video to learn how to use it - the instructions that come with it didn't make much sense to me. Once you learn how to use it, it is an amazing time saver. We salvaged a lot of light strings we had given up on with the use of this tool. Especially handy once you are decorated and all of a sudden you have lights out.
Pros:
Time and money saver Easy to use once you watch the tutorial online
Cons:
Instructions with product weren't easy to understand

Does not work
December 20, 2011
So far I have not been able to get the lights repair tool / light keeper pro to work. All I can get it to do is beep when you get it near a strand of lights that is working fine. Other than that it does not work.
Pros:
This product is not working
Cons:
Can't get it to work

Uses oddball battery
November 30, 2011
This unit uses a L154 battery which is not available anyplace but with a new unit. So when the batteries go bad you have no place to get replacements except to buy a new unit. Sounds like designed in resales.
Merchant Response:
Inside the packaging for this product are the details for battery replacement. The appropriate replacement battery is an L1154 alkaline cell battery or equivalent type battery (i.e., LR44, AG-13, A76, or 357). While we do not sell these batteries, I was able to perform a search for L1154 on the internet and a number of websites selling the battery were available.
Pros:
Works great until the batteries fail
Cons:
When the batteries fail it is impossible to find them.
