This colored fluorescent tube sleeve fits over a linear fluorescent lamp to transform the light from white to red. The durable polycarbonate plastic in this tube guard will also provide protection in case the T8 lamp shatters. With colored tubes, you can create the look of a custom lighting design without breaking your budget.
Red Tinted Light: this fluorescent tube cover alters the color of the light emitted by the fluorescent light bulb from white to red
Transmittance: has 0% transmittance below 370 nanometers; eliminates some but not all UV rays [Caution: The primary purpose of this tube cover is to create red light from white light - not to protect rare and delicate artifacts from UV rays.]
Polycarbonate Plastic: durable polycarbonate plastic sleeve helps to contain shards of glass and phosphorus coating if the fluorescent lamp should break or shatter
Length: nominal length of 4 feet; can be shortened in the field with a sharp tool
Diameter: the inner diameter of the tube guard is 1.22 inches, which is designed to fit over a T8 linear fluorescent lamp that measures 1.0 inch (8/8in) in diameter
Polypropylene End Caps: each tube guard cover includes two black end caps that are heat-resistant (not shown in the image above)
Not for High Output Lamps: these tube guards should be used only with standard T8 linear fluorescent light bulbs - not with T8 high output lamps [Caution: T8HO lamps will melt these tube guards.]

Looking over the details I was unable to find information regarding reduction of illumination. I was curious if this product would also have a dimming effect or if the light would be just as bright but with a red color? Thank you for your time.

Yes, there will be a reduction of light output. The manufacturer estimates 85% transmission - so a 15% drop in light.

I use this lens cover in the back glass of a stern pinball machine. It turns the fixture nice and red and I would say reduces brightness about 25%. Gives it a nice glow effect. I have used all the colors and they cut to size easily. Makes for a good effect.
