About our T8 Blue Colored Fluorescent Tube Cover
Description

Infuse your fluorescent lighting with color using these blue fluorescent tube covers. This product is designed to fit over a T8 linear fluorescent lamp and has a length of four feet, but it may be cut to any length shorter. These fluorescent tube guards are durable and heat-resistant.

  • Blue Tinted Light: this fluorescent tube cover alters the color of the light emitted by the fluorescent light bulb from white to blue
  • Transmittance: has 0% transmittance below 370 nanometers; eliminates some but not all UV rays [Caution: The primary purpose of this tube cover is to create blue light from white light - not to protect rare and delicate artifacts from UV rays.]
  • Polycarbonate Plastic: durable polycarbonate plastic sleeve helps to contain shards of glass and phosphorus coating if the fluorescent lamp should break or shatter
  • Length: nominal length of 4 feet; can be shortened in the field with a sharp tool
  • Diameter: the inner diameter of the tube guard is 1.22 inches, which is designed to fit over a T8 linear fluorescent lamp that measures 1.0 inch (8/8in) in diameter
  • Polypropylene End Caps: each tube guard cover includes two black end caps that are heat-resistant (not shown in the image above)
  • Not for High Output Lamps: these tube guards should be used only with standard T8 linear fluorescent light bulbs - not with T8 high output lamps [Caution: T8HO lamps will melt these tube guards.]
  • Case Quantity: available in case quantities of 24/case at a reduced price. To purchase these tube guards in cases, please click case of blue colored fluorescent tube covers.

Purchased to back light a church stage. Works great but must use minimum of 3500k lamps to get maximum effect.

We use the tubes to decorate the windows for the holidays. Makes for a very nice display bet for the dollar.

Questions & Answers
By Shelly Dennington from Austin, Texas on August 16, 2014
Does the light bulb slide down into the tube or does the colored tube cover wrap around the bulb?
By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on August 18, 2014

Answer:
The tube guard slides down the light bulb.
By Keller Jones from Savannah, GA on August 18, 2014

Answer:
They will slide over the end of the CORRECT size tube listed. I did not use them for that size, but for a larger tube. It necessitated purchasing 3 covers per tube to get the effect I desired. I slit, with a razor, all 3 lengthwise and strategically wrapped, covering the three gaps due to the size being too small. They look fabulous. Hope that helps.
By Vittorio from Miami Beach, FL on August 19, 2014

Answer:
The colored tube is entire, a real tube, so you have to slide the bulb inside. Personally I did wrong the size of the tube whose diameter was a little smaller than the bulb so I cut with a blade the tube along his length and I wrapped it around the bulb positioning the cut toward the ceiling and so the cut is not visible. The material is good and the effect is what I wanted :)
By Chad from Powell, TN on August 19, 2014

Answer:
It is a solid tube so the light bulb slides into the tube. It's a great product!
By Tom Phillips from Santa Fe, NM on August 20, 2014

Answer:
The light bulb slides into the tube itself. Then you cut to fit.
By Rodney Boylan from Turnersville, NJ on August 24, 2014

Answer:
It's a tube that covers the bulb. I found that mine do not slide on because the bulb is too big so I have to slice them. But they work great for where I have them.
