Make your ceiling "come alive" with a myriad of twinkling stars using this fiber optic star ceiling kit. It may be used in home theater centers, play rooms, bathrooms, bedrooms, entryways, family rooms, dining rooms, Jacuzzi rooms, and hot tub rooms. This same system may also be used in trade show exhibits, merchandising displays, and museum displays.
FIBERS
Description: the star ceiling fiber optic acrylic fibers transmit light from a halogen illuminator to your ceiling while a “twinkle wheel” (with alternating opaque and transparent sections) rotates in front of the halogen lamp inside the illuminator creating a mesmerizing “twinkling” effect at the other end of the fibers
Room Size: can be used in a room up to about 15ft x 15ft. The fibers, of course, may be placed closer together or further apart from each other.
Number of Fibers: 175 fibers jacketed in groups of 7 & 14 fibers
Length of Fibers: 70 fibers are 20ft long, 42 fibers are 15ft long, 28 fibers are 12ft long, and 35 fibers are 10ft long
Diameter of Fibers: 0.50 mm (millimeter) or about 0.02in (roughly 1/64 of one inch)
No Heat: fiber optic illumination gives off with no heat
No Maintenance: once installed the fibers need no maintenance
ILLUMINATOR
Illuminator: the star ceiling illuminator comes with one 75-watt 12-volt MR16 halogen lamp that is replaceable. Each illuminator also comes equipped with a cooling fan and a twinkle wheel.
Lamp Wattage: maximum 75 watts
Minimal Maintenance: the lamp in the illuminator needs to be replaced occasionally
Dimensions: 8.5in(L) x 6.5in(W) x 5.0in(H)
Electrical Connections: comes with a 5ft cord with a 3-prong grounded plug plus a 4.5ft cord with an on/off rocker switch for the twinkle wheel and an on/off rocker switch for the illuminator
Required Voltage: operates properly only with 120 volts. To find out what voltage your country supplies please view the World Electric Guide.
Ventilation: if the illuminator is housed in an enclosed, vented space, the dimensions of that space must include at least an extra 3in on all sides of the illuminator.
INSTALLATION
Ceiling Access: access above the ceiling is required because this is where all of the fibers and the illuminator will be stored
Not Under Water: neither the fibers nor the illuminator shouldbe used under water
Easy to Install: please refer to these Installation Instructions (PDF). Always check local electrical codes and the National Electrical Code (NEC) before installing any lighting products. It is also wise to consult with a licensed electrician in your geographical area about any electrical details that you might have questions about and to make certain that you are satisfying all of the appropriate electrical codes.
