This cold cathode fluorescent light bulb is available in two color temperatures. It delivers 325 lumens of light, which makes it equivalent to a 40-watt incandescent lamp. It’s a dimmable and energy-efficient alternative that offers an impressive rated life.
Base Type: medium screw lock out base. This light bulb includes a plastic insert for a fixture socket. This plastic insert, if installed, will only allow compatible lock-out base light bulbs to be screwed into the socket, thus preventing the installation of less efficient lamps such as incandescent light bulbs. Why would you ever want to use a bulb with a lock out base in the first place? What's the point of it?

Here's a specific example where a lockout base could be useful. An apartment complex property manager might install the lockout base so that residents cannot switch back to traditional incandescent light bulbs. This allows the property manager to keep power bills/maintenance costs low.
You do NOT have to install the plastic lockout insert if you don't want to use this feature.
