Happy with purchase
January 4, 2011

This fan replaced an existing fan. Overall, decent quality compared to others in marketplace.
Very disappointed with backdraft damper, but it seems to be equivalent to all exhaust fans on the market, poor seal, why even bother. I purchased a backdraft damper separately to add to line.
Housing also not sealed well, holes everywhere to allow hot or cold attic air to be pulled into home. Again, seems on par with other fan/lights out there. If it is a new install, it can be coated and sealed easily from above, but as a replacement, a bit more work. Solved problem with lots of taping around housing.
Standard light bulbs do not seem to fit, however new fluorescent energy saving bulbs solved the problem.
Metal tabs holding globe up easily dent inward, very thin metal, needed to fix one tab.
One plug connecting to electric source had bent prong, needed to fix. These are relatively small issues, but to diagnose issue and repair while on a ladder reaching overhead, not so easy.
Last issue was the lack of adjustability mounting fixture. VERY little room for error here as the carriage bolts were not adjustable as with other light fixtures. If this is mounted a little too high into ceiling, bolts do not reach fixture.
If its housing drops below drywall or ceiling level, there is a gap between fixture and ceiling. Use great care when mounting housing.
Install took a couple of hours due to all the little flaws. But I do believe most other fans out there would have most of the same issues when it comes to draft seals. The lack of adjustability when mounting light fixture to housing is the biggest flaw I see with this particular fan.
Much nicer that the plastic fans out there.
Runs quietly. Looks great!
Pros:
Stylish
Quiet
As good or better quality as others out there
Cons:
Lack of mounting adjustability
Insufficient backdraft closure
Housing poorly sealed against attic air
Incandescent light bulbs don't fit
