Good quality lights at half the price of other brands
December 28, 2013
I was skeptical of buying this item after reading a bad review, but pulled the trigger anyway. I thought the template was perfectly sized. I traced it on ceiling an stayed exactly on line. The clips Locked them into place just fine. (I think it is 1/2 " drywall) They look nice and operate perfectly. I am glad I did not let bad review discourage me.
Price compared to similar lights Able to touch insulation

Cheap and Weak Securing System
March 31, 2012
The actual fixture is good but the template is off. Should have made it a bit smaller because if you cut exactly on the line the fixture barely fits. The fastening clips are not low enough (5/8" drywall) so it does not secure to the ceiling tight enough. I had to buy some flat ceiling Halo fixtures at Home Depot and use the clips to secure the others. Basically I had to jimmy rig them to fit tight. Very poor securing system. The Halo brand are much better design. I would have gone to Home Depot but they didn't sell the sloped ceiling type. I will not use these in my next remodel project. I will spend a little more and shop for quality Halo.
Actual Fixture, price and speed of shipping
The securing clips and WRONG size template. Shipping package not packed good, so damaged rims.

Best sloped cans out there

Excellent cans -- Much much better than Elco, and I like them more than the way more expensive Progress.
decent gauge metal nicely made - no sharp edges Great for the price

Questions & Answers

Can you use LED light bulbs with this fixture?

By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on April 10, 2013

The manufacturer has not tested these with LED light bulbs. LED light bulbs can fit BUT there are concerns about the weight and heat management of the LED light bulbs.

Can this light be put in ceilings that will have a combination of closed and open cell foam in insulation? Is it OK to have the foam come in direct contact with the housing? Could you get back to me ASAP, please? Thank you so much.
By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on October 22, 2012

Since this housing is IC rated, it can come in direct contact with ceiling insulation and even can be covered with it.

Hi is the opening round, or oval?
By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on March 30, 2015

It's elliptical.

6.5in x 7.0in in diameter.
By Taylor from Colorado on March 30, 2015

The opening is slightly oval. If your wondering if a hole saw will work, I don't think it will. The lip is pretty small to catch the sheet rock, so best to trace the supplied template and cut by hand or with a drywall saw.
By Dan from Crested Butte, CO on April 5, 2015

The opening is oval, a cut-out template is included.
