Questions & Answers
By Tom from Morgan Hill, CA on July 2, 2014
The space between my roof's bottom side plywood and the top edge drywall ceiling results in a 7 1/4" inch space maximum, and there is insulation in that space. Can this housing be used without concern? If so, what LED lighting fixtures can it contain which provides the maximum amount of lumens. I'm replacing a hanging fluorescent fixture containing 4 - 40W tubes, and would rather have a result with a lot more light/lumens.

This housing is NOT IC rated, so it's best not to use it in an insulated ceiling.

I would suggest this item instead because it's IC rated -

Note it's 7in in height so it'll be a really tight fit. I would personally look for a smaller recessed light just to make sure it fits.
