Excellent

This is a great product. It's compact, fully sealed and easy to install. The hanger bars work perfectly. For my install, the ceiling trusses where the lights are installed were only separated by 11.5", so I cut a few inches from the ends of the hanger bars (opposite mounting sides). When making this modification, these lights can be installed literally anywhere. Very well constructed and fairly cheap for what they are.
Pros:
Fully sealed Well constructed Easy to install
Cons:
I didn't care for the captured nails in the hanger bars

I have ordered a fair amount of these and they work great. On my recent order one of them did not have the wing nut to hold the bulb housing in place. I was pleased with the customer service that is having a replacement sent out to me. Thank you.

Exactly as promised

This housing looks to be nominally airtight, with tight-fitting seams. There is a gasket around the circular opening for the light that makes a good seal with the sheetrock. I use new construction fittings on remodels, and this housing can be installed from the attic if there is clearance above the ceiling. The center of the hole can be as little as 3.5 inches from a joist (3.25 inches with a bit of modification to the extending arms that span the joists). Installed, it is a bit higher than a 2x6, so plywood laid across joists to facilitate access might accidentally rest on one of these fixtures.
Pros:
Airtight, IC rated, can be installed fairly close to a joist.
Cons:
Some modification required to get the center of the hole to 3.25 inches from a joist.

Questions & Answers
By Wayne from Thomasville, NC on September 20, 2012
Is this compatible with a 2'x2' drop ceiling system?
By Jacob from Pegasus Lighting on September 20, 2012

Answer:
Wayne,

The bar hangers for this recessed light adjust up to 2ft, so it sounds to me like it would work - if the space between sections is not greater than 2ft.
By Ron Ouellette from Methien, Mass on September 21, 2012

Answer:
I used this in a shower ceiling. Ceiling was made with Wonderboard (cement) base. Lights were secured to 2x4s. I used about 8in clearance for height of the fixture. I can not say for certain but I would think these can be used in a 2x2 drop if secured properly above the panels.
